question about gsr intake manifold butterfly
i noticed the other day the canister under the intake manifold had a connector that wasnt hooked up(the electrical plug). I plugged it back in and my car feels like the secondaries are hitting in harder what my question is since this was disconnected the flap in the intake was either always open or always closed and can anyone explain what actually happens with the butterfly does it make the intake a long runner to start for torque and closes the flap for a short runner at 5800 for HP? and what exactly was happening with no vacuum going to the intake??
The IAB butterflies are normally closed before 5800 RPM. The butterflies cover the short intake runners. To close the runners, vacuum must be applied via the IAB solenoid, which was unplugged in your case. (Watch the butterfly linkage engage when you start the car.) You were always on the short runners, which should have reduced your low-end torque.
