Ok, so I'm trying to fix my LS tranny, it has a broken shifter fork. I tried to seperate the gear housing from the bell...if thats what its called, and I got about a inch gap and I can't get it to come any further. I think the tranny may be in gear, would this be causing it to be stuck together? Thanks in advance.

 

Theres a snap ring holding onto one of the shafts that you have to press open. Also did you remember to remove the reverse idler gear bolt and the two shift fork bolts I guess you could call them? They're two bolts with springs and ballbearings on the end.

 

ok so can you tell me where they are located?

 

All three of the bolts are on the sides of the bell housing. The snap ring is located under a 1/2" plug that a 1/2" breaker bar should be able to undo. The plug should be located at the top of the bell housing.
