Brake prop. valve causing uneven left/right front distribution ?
As long as Iīve owned my CRX (a little over a year) it has had slightly more braking force at the front right wheel than the left. It was especially noticeable during the winter when itīs very easy to lock up the wheels on the snow.
Not too long ago the left front caliper locked up , however once I stopped the car , waited a few minutes and started driving again it was fine. Never experienced the problem again.
I assumed that both these things were caused by a bad caliper at the left wheel which was probably partially frozen/sticking.
Recently I upgraded my front brakes with VT/SiR knuckles/rotors/calipers + master cylinder and brake booster. Also bought new brake hoses.
Upon testing the brakes I found that the right wheel would still lock up before the left. I also once experienced the left front wheel caliper freezing causing the brakes to overheat at that wheel.
Since I have now replaced both my calipers and master cylinder , the only things left of the stock brake system are the hard lines and the brake prop valve.
Iīm suspecting that the prop. valve could be causing this , has anyone ever experienced anything like this ?

When I had this problem on my CRX, I thought it was the PPV also. But when I ask a friend he told me it was the Master Cylinder.
One I changed it, my brakes were fine.
Since you already changed your MC, and your Calipers, then did you bleed your brakes???
What kind of brakes do you have in the rear???
Which master cylinder did you get???

Brakes are bled and the brake pedal feels fine. I have disc brakes in the rear , my car came stock with them.
Iīm using a 15/16" MC from a CRX VT , however it has a small internal leak. The pedal sinks slowly to the floor when I press it for a long time.
I have bought a new MC that I will be installing soon , then Iīll know for sure if the MC is causing this.

If your pedels go down slowly when you press it then your MC is taking a ****.
I know now that it is your MC.
Even thought you bought a new MC does not mean that you it's ok. Parts these days are mostly rebuilt so you might just had a bad one last time.

Actually the first MC i bought was used , and probably as old as the car it came out of.

If the size is the same it shouldnīt be a problem. The brake prop. valve however will be different between the cars.

I would go with the 15/16" from the 90-91 Civic EX MC.
And just to make sure that your PV is a 4040.
If you would have said it was a used MC then I would have told ya that it's the MC already.
some signs of the MC going bad: pedal fade, uneven braking, and fluid leaking from back of MC onto the brake booster.

A little update on my braking problems.
Today I put in the new MC i bought from Honda and bled the brakes.
I still have uneven front brakes , the right wheel locks up a little earlier than the left. Itīs not a massive difference , but it really annoys me.
The car pulls a little to the right when braking at maximum , but not enough to make the car feel dangerous or anything like that.
I thing Iīll be trying to swap out the prop. valve later to if that corrects the problem.

Remember to get the 4040 Prop. valve.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Here in Norway I donīt have an option but to buy OEM , also we donīt have autoparts stores with lifetime warranties on parts.
The prop valve is correct since my car has 4 wheel dics brakes stock.
However I suspect that the prop valve may be faulty in some way.
Iīll probably replace it soon to see if it corrects the problem.
