Just wondering how much it set you back to have your transmission synchronizers replaced and where you got the work done?

 

if you have a stock transmission, it probably is a cheaper route to just swap out the entire transmission.

 

Really! A new USDM ITR tranny runs like 1-2k doesn't it? I thought replacing synchros was expensive but no where near the cost of a new tranny.

 

I think he means if you are going to have it done at an Acura stealership.

They are notorious for not liking to crack transmissions over, thinking once something goes bad besides the clutch just toss it.

Find a good garage around you that you can trust, or get some local H-T members and DIY.

well, the thing about transmission repairs and dealerships is this....if you crack open a tranny and rebuild just the synchros you need, they cant guarantee the work on the car. thats a lot of labor to eat up if something goes wrong..

 

also, i know for bmw's, bmwna will not let you replace internal transmission parts.....you HAVE to replace the whole transmission.

 

Lemme get this straight. NO Acura dealership will warrenty work done on the transmission of the car. WTF? Is this possible?

 

I had my ITR synchros done under warrenty about 2years ago.

dealer did a good job and have had no problems with it.

some will do it and many will not.

 

How much did it cost you?

 

i JUST had my replaced, all of my synchros

Sunnyside Acura replaced them with only 50 miles left on my warranty

to replace 1-2, 3-4, 5-R it would normally cost 1650 dollars, mine of course was free

ohhh i love the nice new tranny feel

 

didn't cost me a thing. 3rd sync was grinding and I had 24K miles on the car. I do not even drive the car as hard as some people I know, turns out that the syncro cracked and overtime things just got worst. So the dealer replaced all of them and the clutch all under warrenty
