Default no tengo dinero!

man, this forum is kind depressing for me actually. hehe. i read about all these mods the everyone is doing, or HAS done to their cars and then i go back out to my stock 4 door accord dx with no bumpers, and stock rims with no hubcaps. where the HELL do you guys get the money for all this? haha, i'm broke as hell, i can barely afford to get my oil change every 3000 miles. Ok ok, so i can afford that, but i hate spendingthe money, because i can hardly save up anything..let alone the money for an H22. Well thats enough bitching for today, i'll go read about other people's cars some more and wish they were mine.....hehe.

no, in all seriousness... it's really tough to afford modifying a car well... most people out there have their parents fund their little projects... as much as that route would have been more convenient for me... i worked full time to pay my way through school (and yes i got my bachelor's in 4 years still) with ungodly long hours and lots of drinking to kill the pain...

Well when you're out of school and working full time the money should be there, but it is pretty darn pathetic to be spending like 75% of every paycheck on the car like I do. It's a sickness I tell you.

true, it is an addiction... there have been many weeks i have gone hungrier to save money for a project... unfortunately now that i'm out of school, the job market sucks so much that i'm not making much more than i did when i was in school...

LOL Its so true. Well at least I'm not spending it on drugs or alcohol or anything like that. If I still had a GF I would not be able to spend more than 80% of my paycheck on the car. I love this hobby

I know how you all feel...workin 2 jobs, in college, with a girlfriend, and still trying to figure out how to do stuff to my car...thats why i try to find as many things i can do myself or custom. Home projects take a little bit more ingenuity but cost alot less than any aftermarket part you'll find. It may not look as good as everyone else with the body kits, the big rims, the euro's, etc...but it runs great, its my car, and i love it damnit

Credit Cards and Financing. It is real easy, just don't make the payments! LOL. Yes, I am kidding. Actually, I pay for all of my mods in cash. My job pays pretty well. I get $1200 take home every two weeks, and that already has my car payment, a couple of loans, and all of my insurance for health and car taken out of it. The only thing my paychecks are for is rent, my cell phone, and the Mac Tool guy. That amounts to about $500 a month. The rest is for me to play with.

Thanks.

I too will be happy once I get my manifold and piping done. I am putting off buying any more parts until after Christmas as I have a LOT of people to buy for.

Who is making your manifold, and how much are they charging you?

Well, originally I damn near ordered the manifold from south florida performance (just b/c of my f22 and they are hard to find) and they were going to make me a custom one for $450, but now I'm discussing w/ a friend that used to work for FMAX, he's seeing what he can do, and another friend whos friend owns a shop might do it. So It's up in the air right now. The piping I haven't gotten a definite price on yet. SFP will only do the piping if you have your car physically in their shop, but they are pretty nice guys. I've got a friend that lives near atlanta, he lives in Augusta.

yeah, I called SFP, and the manifold they make I will have to change out fans and notch the crossmember. I was hoping to avoid that.

Well that's just because you have the swapped engine, engine bay isn't quite large enough to slap the other stuff on. Mine should be a relatively smooth install, I should have clearance to mount the turbo up or down.

$275.......... how long is that supposed to last? I would definitely ask for references and all that good stuff, SFP does offer a 3 year no crack guarantee.

Yeah, I am going to check them out good first. It is almost one of those too good to be true offers.

i just don't mod my car

actually i am modding it, but not considerably.....i have a system and an intake, and thats all I'm going to have. I make enough money to do other mods (around $800/month, with $250 expenses, i live at home and have a scholarship for school ), but at some point I'm going to get another car (I want a 5g prelude), and modding my car right now just isn't worth it--even with the other basic bolt ons, the car won't be a speed demon, and i'm not going to do a swap.

besides, i just bought a home theater system for my room that'll take me some time to pay off.......
