Default Sold my 98 R buying a 97 M3/4

Hi,

Well, I finally sold my 98 Type R #0063 and I am in the final stages of picking up a 97 Bright red M3 sedan 5sp with 57K miles. I am really stoked because the car fits perfect for my current life style, one child with another on the way due next month. I am looking foward to a few track events next year. :}

Hehe, I went from a E36 to an ITR. Trust me you'll love it. Personally, I am trying to track down a 95 Canadian eurospec-M3, as soon as I find one the ITR shall belong to another,,,

There is one floating around a dealership in Vancouver. Call Burrard Acura (get the number from mybc.com yellowpages). They used to have it, and might be able to tell you where it is now! That car is FAST!

I agree, E36 M3's rock! The R and the E36 are two killer cars to own:

Hey Jeff, we still haven't got together for that beer :} anyway, I sold the car to a guy down in Louisville, Ky. He is a really nice guy, infact, he just sold his 96 GSR. He has a company car, so he will be keeping the miles down on the car. As for the BMWCCA is concerned, I have already signed up as a member :}. I am already a Porsche club member so it will be nice to do a couple of BMWCCA events for a change, so not to be a total outcast this time. I will really miss the Type R, but I never thought that I could feel good about selling it. The M3 makes the healing process a little eaiser. :}

Aren't E36 M3s slower than the new 330s?

"M" and "R" are the two best letters in the alphabet

[not exactly the same M, but in the same family]

Oh.....no, they are not as far as my info goes...the 330s have less HP and much more wieght

actually the 330's are quite fast and some have hit close times to the E36 M3's, however they are slower. A friend has a new one and we have raced it many times against stock M3's and the E36 always wins. What makes the 330 quick is its killer trq.
BTW- nice E30 M3's!!!! Those are defintally a classic and are a killer race car!!!!
Here's a nice picture of some of DSR's E30's and E36's:

I heard that the 4dr E36 M3 handles better than the 2dr M3? Is this ture?

As for E46 330 being faster, maybe in a straight and with an idiot driving the E36 M3. The E36 M3 is 3.2L so the engine size is not much smaller.

I've also heard that the 4dr is also better handling due to its stiffness.

does this answer your question:

But no its no her car. Its more of the family car since it seats 4 and its sporty. I've been playing with it lately by putting some euro spec items on it, playing with the engine a little and showing the car, but I hate having that BMW driver stereo typing going on when I drive it so I try to avoid really getting into it. Our family (including my mom) likes fast nice cars, which is why they all hate my car and what I did to it. However its not their money who paid for the R and the mod's so who cares.
Anyway were gonna be caming the M in the next few months (finally they gave in). We found some killer gains with this new race exhaust and the cams. Finally we can put those light weight doors to work with a nice power setup!

And no thats not my mom's *** in the picture!!!!! lol Thats what you call a fat import model chick who thinks she's fine and ends up in pictures that are trying to avoid her.

acutally its not just a 3.2liter. The 94-95 E36 M3's were 3.0 OBD1 cars. The 96-99 E36 were 3.2l OBD2 cars. The power is close to the same with maybe a slight edge over the 3.0l, the trq however is stronger down low but still hits around the same power. However once you start adding mods, the 3.2l will just rule down low.

yeah the 4dr are slightly better at handeling. Why? the weight is balanced better and the car is also alittle bit stiffer. Most touring racers will use the 4drs for that reason. However on the street they weight more so they are at a slight disadvantage.
