what 3 gauges should I get?
I know this has been covered quite a bit (I've done the search), but wondering what 3 gauges I should get for my triple pillar pod? Obviously the cars turbo'd since this is in the FI forum. I definitely want boost and oil pressure, not sure on the third one, but below is what I was thinking of.
For third gauge:
EGT(Exhaust Gas Temp)/Pyrometer
OR
Fuel Pressure
OR
Oil Temp
OR
Water Temp
Lastly what gauges should I use mechanical and which should I use electrical. I would prefer electrical for oil pressure because I don't want oil line running to interior of car. Thanks in advance

Well, my engine is the stock B18C1 with stock internals (for now). DRAG t3/t4 turbo running 7 psi of boost on a POS Deltagate wastegate (soon to be Tial), Vortec FMU, HKS BOV, etc.. MSD 6AL ignition, NGK 7 series plugs, NGK wires, 3" custom bent exhaust w/ Apexi N1 turbo muffler. That's it for now, more money to save suring fall winter, and engine work in spring.

id say oil temp be a good one maybe not the best but you dont what your oil hot so,really no point for exhaust temp or fuel pressure(its not like its lsvtec)water temp i dont see it need to be on your 3 gauge pillar maybe in dash
well, for my next turbo setup, im going to have boost, oil temp and egt. a/f isnt very accurate(and i have a wideband). the only other gauge id consider is oil pressure

i though egt and A/F were only handy for the tuners, if you dont tune it yourself or even know what they do, go for a temp guage, at least you can see how hot/cold your engine is running and you know what each guage does...

LOL.
You definately need a boost/vacuum gauge. You may even want to use a separate boost gauge and a separate vacuum gauge for more precise readings.
A EGT and a WBO2 are great if you are tuning-as-you-go, but if your car is professionally tuned I don't see the need.
Then I would get water temp if you don't have a stock water temp gauge. Next in line would be an IAT gauge, because your tuner cannot always accurately gauge how the IAT will be affected by speed, ambiant temperature, etc.

well ya i was assuming the first 2 were oil press and boost. I still say WB is the best 3rd one to have. Wounden't you want to know the instant you are running lean because the fuel line you tied on with string came off or the condoms in your gas tank clogged up the pick up maybe....
I'de rather see that thing flash LEAN or 16:1 than see my water temp go up and wonder why....

why a mechanical oil pressure and not electrical? i don't tune myself, probably won't being doing any adjusting until spring (maybe some engine work over winter), so not sure if I will want WB AFR. also, what exactly would I be looking for on the EGT gauge?

i think i will just get boost (mechanical or electric?) and oil pressure. after a lot of searches, i don't think i would really benefit from either the afr or egt at this point. i don't want to spend more than $175-$200 on one gauge, and I don't tune myself, so the egt gauge readings wouldn't mean much to me. also, doesn't seem i can find a good wideband afr for fairly cheap and what i want. is a regular (say autometer) afr better than nothing, or am i better of w/out it? eventually i may be getting a carputer which will let me monitor a lot more engine conditions.
if your trying to decide between air/fuel and egt id say go with egt. your tuner should tune the air/fuel so the egt pretty much just monitors that. when it gets too hot you know theres somthing wrong.(catch the problem before its a real problem)
i don't really have a tuner. not good, lol. i will be putting the car away in a couple months (oct) for the winter though, so i can figure stuff out then
