I remember when I first joined this board a little less than a year ago and it seemed like everybody was sweatin and drooling over the Spoon Header. A groupbuy was suggested back then but it was shutdown due to conflicting dealer interests.
When I first read about IPSracing's Spoon Header groupbuy, I thought everybody was going to jump on it but that hasn't been the case. What the hell happened? I'm just trying to spark up interest for those that might have forgotten or never heard about it. Here's the link

me too - I was hoping on 20+ to get the price to 825.00 - i guess everyone is waiting till the 'great header test' - too bad the group buy will be over. it would suck even more if spoon came in 1st or even 2nd (behind hytech - maybe)

 

Timing on the GB is not the best one. X-mas time's coming up and people can't shell out that much money, most likely. Beside, people are also finding out that Spoon (like Mugen) will scrape bad when they hit a decent sized speedbumps. To me, clearance issue is a big deal on my daily driver (which will be lowered next spring). Also, it seems those that go all out will get a custom Hytech header. Just my 2 cents

 

I got rid of My spoon and went with a Toda header instead. Better midrange, better low-end, exceptional top end, that can be improved with a test pipe.

 

Don't worry, I predict Mike is about to hook it up

Cosworth brings up a great point, At the time I thought of the GB I never took into account the header test, I figured some would be interested in getting the headers for a deal maybe as a Xmas gift, but I guess not as many as I thought would.

If we dont get enough interested in the GB I will Postpone it until later on in January.
As far as the header test, I Know that Spoon will be in the Top 3 above Mugen above the JDM 4-1 etc. I just hope people dont take a quick glance at the test and go "ooh this one made 3hp more than this one, it must be better" There are Sooo many factors that play into how a header will perform and what your setup will do with a particular header, I just hope that people pay close attention to acceleration tests, which header actually adds across the board or at least not jsut a quick spike in power, and also their affect on AF ratio (meaning that with some tuning that the header will make even more power)

 

Mike, I will send over a hooker to lick your ***** if you can postpone the GB till January. I'm sure the results of the Header Test will spark up interest once again

I will postpone it if there isnt enough interest, I will have some other Spoon GB's going on at that time also, And possibly the SRS MOMO ITR Wheels.

 

I would have been in, but I bought my Spoon header already (IPSRACING). No regrets here except I wish there was a groupbuy when I picked mine up.

 

2 Questions:
Are the USDM and JDM SRS wheel the same diameter?
Are the nonSRS JDM and SRS JDM the same diameter?

If memory serves me right, all 3 are the same size, I thought that the NON SRS was a bit smaller though, Benjamin Tang would know best.

 

From what I recall, USDM steering wheels are 370mm, JDM non srs Type R (maybe others too) is 360mm. Someone once said the JDM srs is larger than the non srs model (370mm?). Momo Monte Carlo is 350mm

 

USDM ITR steering wheel is way to large. 350mm or 320mm are the best in terms of road feel. I like Black R's 320mm Monte Carlo. (on non-power steering)

 

I used to have Spoon 4-2-1 (2 pcs old style) and the low- mid was very good but when I swap it to the Spoon 421 (looks like 4-1 1 pce) header then I notice the car runs a bit slower from mid to high rpm then I re-tune the camgears and it made a HUGE difference at the mid-range and high rpm. My point is , you have to do some tuning for your engine with whatever setup you have to obtain the satfisfactory results.

 

I got Charlee's Spoon header. Works pretty well for me
