1995 Prelude or 1999 ITR?
i wud chose the lude cuz i woudnt spend my money for the imports. and juss a turbo on the lude a stage 3 then the price of the lude with the turbo will be the same as the ITR standard
theres a post very similar to this one a few post down...check it out...both cars are good for diff reasons but if i would choose, i'd choose the lude ONLY because i dont have a garage and i drive everywhere...and my ITR would be gone

He does have a point. A fixed up anything (civic, prelude, integra, mustang) will be very appealing to a thief because of all the money he can make from the parts off the car.
As for original post, I would choose the prelude because unless the 1999 ITR (CDM I suppose) is already registered in the US, it will cost a lot more to import and register it.

I compared the ITR 98-01 to a 99-00 SiR, 00-01 SH, 01 GSR, and 02 Type-S. I chose the right car.

but i've had my car parked outside for 3 years now, plus its a daily driver so i take it everywhere and leave it places all day long and havent had any incidents with it. im just saying, if i parked next to a ITR, the theif would probably want the ITR over my slow prelude
thats all i'm saying

i totally agree with you bro, but i just think the ITR is at a higher risk than a lude because its easier to make a hybid from the ITR parts

ITR.
I reckon its a worthy sacrifice in regards to chance of theft compared to driving reward and level of engineering of the ITR. (then again, in OZ we have hardly the theft rate of ITR' as the USA)
If you just want a fast car, go the turbo lude idea. Keep it sleeper for extra precaution.
Try and test drive your choices and decide if the ITR's experience is worth the risk and paranoia of theft, if so - enjoy, if not - well you then know your next option.

I guess it depends what you want from the car. I owned a 95 Prelude VTEC before my R and I liked both. The Prelude had more torque than the R and was certainly more comfortable. I'd also say in a straight line with good traction it was every bit as fast too. I won my autocross class for a couple of years with the Prelude and it was always fun embarassing the Mustang/Camaro guys at autocrosses. But the Type R handles and brakes much better. At autocrosses the R just pulls out of turns because of the limited slip, where I could spin the inside front wheel down an entire straight on the Prelude if I wasn't careful. Of course there's the paranoia that comes with owning an R, but I've been lucky and haven't had any problems. Personally I like the Type R better, because I'll live with the few negatives to drive a great car. You just have to decide what's more important to you.

actually the SH preludes are slower than the base models.
that atts crap is only weight and only works when you accellerate in corners.
overall it just slows down the car.

Those two aren't even in the same performance class. Do you really have the luxury of choosing one over the other?
I've owned a '97 Prelude S and two ITR's and there is no comparison. As far as looks, that's up to you.
