Default HELP! Brake lights will not turn off.

Ok, here's the problem. My brake lights stay on while i'm driving, when the car is off, they are always on. Does any one know what is going on? I checked the fuses and thats not the problem.

Mine stayed on when my rear wheel cylinders (drum brakes) were leaking. Fixed the leak and that solved the problem.

i had my light do that too... do your brakes sqeauk or anything if so then you need to replace them... but if it just stays on check the fluid level of your master cylinder and just fill it up if it is low... mine hasnt came on since i did that.

this happened to me in my 89 crx and it was the brake pedal sensor..its a little rubber/plastic peg that gets worn out and simply falls out from where its located (up high on the brake pedal arm under the dash..just follow the brake pedal up under there until you see a little "pointy peg thingie")..or..if yours fell out..you'll see where it was located and..what i did was gerry-rig a screw in that little hole so it would turn off the brake light..hope that crappy answer was some help.

Yeah, the sensor is kind of stupid if you think about it. the brake pedal is solid all the way up, until you get to the sensor. Honda in all their mighty wisdom put a hole right where the pedal meets the sensor, and put a piece of plastic the size of a dime in that hole. The plastic circle is usually a light blue color and will fall straight down on the floor in pieces when it is broken. Costs 5 bucks at Honda, which is the only place to get them. I had the same problem, what I did was find a nut and bolt that is just long enough and wide enough to stay in place. that will solve the problem forever, as long as the nut stays tight.

That happened to me a while back, couldn't figure out what that blue junk was on my floor mat, till I look up at the brake light switch and seen the gap between it and the pedal. The nut and bolt fix worked great for me too back then

i superglued like 4 pennies together and then superglued them over that hole when this happened to me. Well the first time my sensor was broken, and then when i put the new one in i guess it was stiffer and 2 days later it knocked out the little plastic plug. thats when i took out the super glue.

it seems like the reason Honda uses those soft plastic plugs is so that the black switch will no wear down. This is good! I rather spend $2 bucks on the plug then however much Honda would charge for the unit with the black switch.
Its alwayse a good idea to replace parts (no matter how stupid it might seem) with originals or at least something reasonably close.
Things are done a certain way for a reason.
