Front brake conversion
I have a 1995 Del Sol and I went to the Honda dealership service center and asked if I could just change the size of my front rotors from the stock 9.44 ones I have on now to the larger 10.3. He said if they fit on then no problem. But if I was to change the rotors without having larger calipers with larger brake pad area, what good would it do, since the braking surface area would be the same?
Any comments?

Also the rear lower control arm bolt broke any suggestion for that, I wanted to put in my new koni yellows.

the calipers won't fit on the larger rotors and for the broken bolt you're gonna need a new bolt....
sidenote: anything dealing with brakes has been beaten to death, search brake swap or something of that nature for all the info you'll ever need.

bolt is going to be a bitch, i ad to cut mine....lotta work, as far as the front brakes, your best bet is to find a front GSR set....which i happen to have if you want, and swap that in, fits fine.
yep you need to upgrade the hole spindle to change the size of the rotor. Expect to dump close to $300 for the spindle caliper, replace the rotors, and replace the brake pads. I don't wonna go thru the list of the cars you can source the brake from because there are so many (search).
To get the rear lower control arm bolt that hold the shock out you will need to free the the shock, then try to hammer out the bolt that broke out of the bushing (it's inside a metal sleve, so try not to hammer out the metal sleeve with it). If that doesn't work then go buy some new bolts from honda, buy some Energy suspension bushings for replacement. Then you are going to need to torch, cut and pound the old bushing out, then take a hacksaw cut the metal sleeve out of the lower control arm press the energy suspesion bushing in, and reinstall the suspension. It's pretty complex it could be done easier if you just take a lower control arm off, but then it will be a BIG PAIN IN THE *** to get it back into it's place believe me.

Why did I think it wasn't going to be fun? I think I might buy a pair of control arms and cut the bolts off mine and hopefully bang the bolt through so I can take mine off. I actually have a tool set that you bang bearing in and out with, so I guess I will get a chance to use it. Anyone know a cheap source for stock rubber bushings? I'm not interested in going to poly and I race in stock class autocross, and those aftermarket bushings are real easy to notice.
there is no way in hell that you will bang that sleve out. Sometimes 10 tons of pressure won't break them loose, believe me I did it both ways. If you don't have access to the press get a hacksaw handy. I don't think there are stock replacment for those bushings, you will have to get a new or used control arm.

You are right banging doesn't work, my bearing removal/installation set didn't even get a chance. I'll just cut the nut then I think the torch is next, since I have to do the other side also. If I get lucky I might be able to get the other one to come loose by PB blasting and then heating before wrenching it. Thanks
