5th Gen VTEC ECU vs. 5th Gen Non-VTEC ECU

is it possible to take a VTEC ECU and put it on an F22B1 Non-VTEC motor?

I think not because the ECU will be searching for the VTEC variables at the engagement point, not find them, and throw a code resulting in the RPM retardation
