Hi everyone
Had a pretty rough one last night. Parked my R on a corner in Manhattan went to my friends house for a couple of hours. Came down and i noticed two big guys standing on the corner a car parked right up my R's bumper with another guy there, i walked past them, cut infront of my car and noticed my hood was popped
turn around, stood infront of my R and looked at the three guys, whom jump into thier car any take off.
i have a hood look on my R, an autolock device and various other cutoff switches.
i guess they tried to open my hood to kill the siren of my alarm but was thwarted by the hood lock, i don't think they got very far into the job.
phew, this is the second time
i'm just wondering how many more lives R still has left
another CW was almost gone, ******* thieves
still a little shaken.....

It must be some fuc*ker driving around and spot your car and tried to steal it......lucky your alarm save your car.

When I had my R, the city it slept in a parking garage. But in the Bronx it was on the street. I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box
Least you still got it. Lets not make the third time a charm

My first R was stolen in the upper east side. Left it for only a few hours and poof...in was gone. Had no real choice at the time because all the indoor garages i could find in the area were locked down for the night.
that's good the hoodluck paid off.......and hopefully they didn't do any major damage on the body of the car...
i got mine on the net i forgot the webpage though...but i'll look for it...
and YES you can install this yourself...it will take about a good half an hour to 45 minutes...
where did you get your hood lock and how much? (can you install it yourself?)

jc whitney sells one that is about $40. It takes a while to install, and is actually a big pain the *** to line up. It works well though, and there is an existing hole in the firewall to route the lock mechanism through. I could take some pics if everyone wants to see.

no pics, but it is sought of like a deadbolt for your hood
you can either have it hooked up electronically to you alarm fob or
have a manual open and lock
i chose the latter because i don't want to be stuck because of deadbattery issues with the alarm

Glad your security measures worked, Of course then in other threads people are talking about how if they want it they will get it well in this case they didnt get it because of the devices you had

i meant to bypass all my security devices would simply take them too long
but what the above says is kinda true, if they want it they can simply flatbed the thing away, theres no way for me to prevent that
SHIET.................. dang dude! Hey, betcha be careful! Thats one of the reasons

Sorry to hear about that, anyone who parks an R in NYC streets is asking for it.
For me personally I would have gotten the plate number on the car and called it in to the cops. Its also best to avoid confrontation with the thugs. anyhow, you're lucky they ran away.

Could you pleeease post pictures? It would be greatly appreciated!!!
I purchased the JCwhitney (audiovox) hoodlock a while back.. I have yet to install it as I haven't found the time. But from a quick look under the hood I wasn't sure exactly where to mount the sliding bolt bracket, plus the bracket on the hood itself. thanks in advance!

yeah, I'd like to see the lock also (where to get it, how it works).
Cost shouldn't even be a deciding factor. A lock/ cutoff/ or whatever else that deters those worthless scum is well worth the value of keeping this sweet ride!!

I'm in the process of installing the hood lock..I'm trying to located the place for the locking mech. If anyone has a pic, please post it...thanks
Dont post any pics of how to install the hoodlick!! You never know, but there could be some smart theives out there reading this board. Send him the pics through email, but please dont make it easier for theives to defeat yet another security device.
