need some info on hood locks
I want to get hood locks for my crx, or find some other way to secure my hood from being opened. The only thing I have found are locking hood pins, but they seem to use a universal key, so I dont see how that could keep a theft out. Are there any good locking hood pins out there, or an alternate way I can secure my hood from being opened?
In the old days [the 60s] we didn't have car alarms, we also didn't have a lot of **** to be stolen from your car, but cars were being stolen,no alarms, no transponder keys, no locked steering or shifters, and you could start a car with some tinfoil
we used 4 or 5 links of hardened steel chain bolted to hood, around latch and dropping through hole in rad support and then a good padlock.
I still use one on my teg, my hood will open enough to trip alarm but not enough to reach in an cut batt.,or siren leads

You don't need to "open" the hood in the way you are thinking of to do that. Most peoples fatal error, they think thieves aren't going to damage the car.

You could try installing a hood lock cable. The one I am referring to is called the "DEI 567T HOOD LOCK" and is pictured below. It even has a built in starter kill mechanism. There are usually several auctions for them on eBay. I never used it so I can't comment on its effectiveness or ease of installation.

I know what you mean, I have had cars come into my shop with the hood still locked with hood lock and stock latch, but pass. side peeled back like a can of sardines, and the alarm did not go off , pinswitch was on drivers side, I have them on both sides, the chain and lock are just one more thing to slow the crooks down.
