Stock ITR dyno results
Anyone read this months issue of Sport Compact Car? Their article The Bullshit Filter talks about how car companies misrepresent HP ratings a lot (well duh). They talk about the new SE-R Spec V a lot, 180hp dyno'd at 141whp, ouch.
But anyway, the guy writing the article (Dave Coleman, who appearently has a 97/98 Type R) writes:
"... Take the 1994 to 2001 Integra GSR, for example. Rated at 170 hp, GSR's regularly dyno at 150 hp at the wheels. The 1997 and '98 Type R, which was rated 25 hp higher at 195 hp, regularly registers around 161 hp -- only 11 hp higher."
Have any of you Type R owners (and GSR for that matter) seen these kind of results first hand?
[edit] (i only assume the author, Dave Coleman has an R, cause I've always noticed they show his picture in the mag, smiling next to one)

My pos R dynoed at a mere 159 whp stock. Then again, the timing was set at 14 degrees from the factory, amongst other things...
I'm at 184whp now as she's reacted pretty well to the mods.

I dyno'd @ 175 with BS mods and the car not running right. Hopefully after Jack touches the car it'll be closer to 180-185

JDM B18C (Spec R). Found out my intake is to small. Exhaust is holding me back, having ignition issues. But since that dyno I put on a DC JDM header and have been running a re-chipped P-28 ECU.

Good luck on the issues
I think it's pretty rare for a GSR to dyno at 150whp. The average I've seen is around 140whp bone stock. I know every car is different but I don't think 150 for a stock GSR is very common.
GSRs usually dyno at about 140whp, and most ITR are someowhere in the range of 165whp. I think that article is a little off... they probably dynoed one weak R, and used that as a comparison.
I've seen GSRs dyno anywhere from 132 to 150. In 1996/1997 Sport Compact Car had a GSR that and if I remember correctly they said that it put down 159 to the ground stock. I think that they said it did 176 with I/H/E. I could be remembering my numbers incorrectly, but I'm pretty damn sure of this.
BTW: this was the same GSR that they compared against the first ITR they tested in 1997. I think July or August 97 issue. It was the red one with the kaminari body kit and wing, and the 17 inch TSW wheels. It had a DC 4-2-1 header, DC exhaust, and DC DAC intake if I remember right.

I'm right there with ya. I believe the 00-up ITR's are a little stronger, but the 97-98's probably dyno around 160 like it was stated. I also heard the OBD-I GSR's tend to dyno higher than the OBD-II. Dunno if there's any truth to that, but just another thing to stir the pot with.
i've seen so many stock 00-01 itr's dyno at ~168whp that i think the average for these cars really is higher than the oft quoted 160whp.
Okay so if obdI dyno's higher than the rest. wtf is obd3 going to do? My 98 stock dyno'd at 159hp and 112-114tq. What kind of bs mods can net anyone 24+ hp to the ground. Also why would a 00-01 itr dyno higher than a 97-98 with obd2. Arent these still the same, or did these new colors add 5 or 10 flywheel hp?

Also, what kind of stock whp does a non-vtec 1.8 LS engine usually put down?
I've been saying that the Type R's here do NOT make 195hp for years now. I put it at more like 185hp or so. How could they say it makes like 2 hp less than the JDM car when that car was so drastically different? Should have sued Honda! LOL! I still love the car though...kinda makes it that much better to be kicking *** with an even less powered car.
Mine dyno'd at 163hp stock
