Where do you guys mount your ecu?
I am running DTA Fast P8Pro and right now, I have the ecu mounted under the pass. side floor mat cover. I would like to make a panel to mount my ecu. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. I've seen this done mostly in drag cars. Thanks a lot
That looks pretty nice have a link to other pics? It looks like they just bolted a piece of ss to the floor and mounted the aem and msd on there.
I have Hondata, and here is how I mounted mine:

I just drilled holes in the ECU cover and bolted the blue box to the ECU. I drilled a 1/4" hole also and used a gromet to route the wires through the cover. This all bolts up in the stock ECU location.

Nice, but why not use a low profile ZIF socket? I have the low pro ZIF and can still use the original cover. I guess it's easier for you to pull out your ROM though...I sill have to remove the 5 screws to take my cover off.

Would it be a problem (electrical or otherwise) with the ignition box being so close to the ecu? I dont know I am just asking, but that setup looks purdy.

i am curious about this as well. is there any advantage besides no heat, to having the ignition box there instead of the engine compartment?

Installation of the rollcage required that I relocate my ECU. Since I had to hack my glove box for the installation I used the remaining space for the ECU, blue box and Wideband controller (not mounted in the pic).

I had mine set up sort of like this, but everyone commented on how close my MSD was to the ECU. I asked MSD and the recommended I keep it at least a foot from my ECU due to possible EMI. (maybe the AEM is protected better than the stock ECU?) How many of you guys have your MSD and stock ECU this close? I'd like to put mine back like this if it doesn't cause any probs.
Thanks,
Josh

Well, again this isnt my car...I am just using a similar setup. If anyone wants to contact those guys check out http://www.tunedbylorange.com.

Hardware store for small quantitys, or if you want to do a lot of sheet metal work just look in the phone book for a sheet metal supply place.

I am using the AEM C2DI and AEM EMS. I have seen way too many people set it up in this configuration with no issues...I don't know about MSD though (although the tunedbylorange guys seem to be doing ok).

On a street setup I think I would either try to to utilize the stock location or maybe that glovebox setup. My car isn't a street car so I don't care.

Just got done putting mine in the glovebox. Only thing I need now is to stack some DIP's(or something) and cut a hole in the ecu cover to expose the eeprom and zif socket.

Did you just extend your wiring harness to allow the ecu to pe mounted in your glovebox? Because I am thinking about doing the same, I just do know how I am going to pull it off.

No, it was just long enough to make it. I thought I would have to make an extension, but didn't. For the hole I took a 1 3/4" holesaw and drilled half the diameter in from the side, then half from the back side.
