Find someone with a high power Impact wrench. Or get a stronger breaker bar and put some more muscle into it. Or you can also try some penetrating oil and let it sit for a while to loosen itself. Or, lastly you can try heating the nut up so it expands and loosens a little then break it loose.

try tightening it a little and then loosen it
try an impact right and left
try pb blaster let it sit then rigth and left it
try heating it up and breaking it loose right and left it

how are you stopping the axel from spinning? is it in gear? try putting the wheel on with out the center cap and setting the car on the ground(if its not allready)

I forgot to ask if the car was on the ground. Good idea grip. And for reference always break the nut loose while the car is on the ground it makes it much easier later on. As you are finding out right now.

unstake it...? it looked like there was a spot for a cotter pin or what ever but there was nothing there. it looks as if the nut is just screwed on the end of the axel and nothing in the way...

go to home depot and get a 5' long 1" thick steel pipe. $10
put the wheel back on & lower the car
slide the pipe over your new 18" breaker bar
should come off with little effort

and make sure you unstake the nut. by unstake i mean take a chisel and a hammer and pound the indentation on the outer part of the nut out of the axle. if you didn't do that good luck getting the axle out and doing the rest of your job

the unstaking they are talking about would be where the 'U' spot is on the end of the axle itself. (top right of your picture) Yours isnt really staked in there, so just get a big pipe or something and break it loose.

here is how you take them loose if you don't have air tools, and nothing seams to work.

unstake it

Punch out your centercaps, then put the wheels back on, and lower the car.

Stick the socket and a good breaker bar through the whole, and try braking it loose. If thats not working, try slipping a pipe over the nut. Finally, if that does not work, with floor jack, jack the handle of the breaker bar up (make sure you put it on the correct side so that the bar moves conter clockwise) then use the car's weight to break it loose.

I've never ever had to unstake an axle nut before. The notch always just poped out when i turned it. This is with doing it with a breaker bar and a inpact gun.

Just try to find someone in the area with an impact wrench. Once they break it loose and tighten it back down, you'll be able to break it loose again once you get back home. I actually spun the head off a breaker bar trying to get the axle nut loose on my stealth while using a 10' pipe. Might work, might break. I'd try to impact wrench approach. Hey, if you've got some money, they're a great investment. Saves a lot of time on working on the engine.
