So I Entered This Sweepstakes...
http://skoalsweeps.com
Ran across an ad in Road and Track and it looked like fun. A Skippy School that is also a competition. You get the one day school with a race at the end. The Top 50% move on to 2 more days with more competition. Then the top 2 drivers move on to a national championship against the top 2 drivers from the other regions of the country.
So I think "Now that sounds like alot of fun, and I could certainly use a free Skippy School." So I entered.
Well, it appears that I'm in. Got the registered mail with waivers and such to sign today.
Very excellent. I'm hoping to at least turn this into a 3 day adventure and get the full Skippy experience out of it. I've also never driven a Formula type car before other than at an autocross. I'm really looking forward to it.
Looks like my part of the deal will be at Moroso in October.
I've never been there. Wheeeeeeeee!!!!
Scott, who has NEVER won anything like this before and will be celebrating tonight.

Oh yeah, if I should somehow manage to win the whole thing at Daytona --> $70,000
That'll keep an ITC car in Hoosiers for, well, 70 years.

Well, I guess because it never occured to me.
Again, I've never actually won anything like this before so when I enter something like it I don't really apply any thought to it actually becoming reality.
Sorry. I'll try to do better next time.

In hindsight it actually would have been awesome to have someone like you going as well, however slim the chances of that would've been.
I did enter Renee though. Obviously her envelope didn't come.

Barber Dodges are wingless IIRC.
And I've heard of the gator encounters. Lets hope I just stay on the track and its not an issue.
Anybody got some Moroso video to share?

Soon to air on SpikeTV:
Announcer A: Woo .. Giles is off in 3. Looks bad.
Announcer B: Wait .. he is getting out of the car. Seems to be okay.
Announcer A: Nevermind. Gator got him.

Thanks.
Moroso = Flatastic!!!
Looks like I need to schedule some PT on my right knee and ankle as I'm betting a Formula Dodge likes a little heel/toe and theres a couple of double downshift spots on that track.
Scott, hates double downshift corners.

Yeah, it's pretty flat. There are some pavement transitions that'll make the car move around a little, but no real elevation changes.
In my LS, the only 2nd gear corner is 7 (that's the jog in the back straight). Hard to say how that'll translate to a FD, though. Turn 2 (the first real turn) will probably be double. When I went to a recent SCCA regional there, it actually sounded like some people were downshifting three times going into 7.
If you want to make the trek to get a little preview, the next NASA HPDE there is in September: http://www.performance-drivers...=home.
Have fun, and good luck!

I just finished a 3-day Skippy school at Lime Rock and the Formula Dodge's need a good heel-toe when down shifting because the 4 speed tranny is non syncromesh. Congrats on winning the sweepstakes, you will have a blast in those cars! Good Luck!

Congrats... I tried to enter, but the site wasn't able to verify my age... and I was too lazy to call them. Glad to hear someone actually wins these things.
