So my customer who has full faith in me tell me he will not put Eagle rods(much fate there) and goes out and buys theses rods and first pull snap right at center of the rod. Name this rod and what happended there goes a brand new block and head.

I tell you what, I have built a lot of motors with Eagle rods, and now that they have the big bolts, they are some of the best rods for the buck. Damn Tom, tell your customer sorry!!!

Yep, add it to the pile.

"You pay for what you get" when it comes to rods.

It's got to be another reason for this failure besides "probes suck." Plenty of people have used these rods with no problems.

many are not honda people but other applications.. the thoughts and name were passed onto the honda scene. poor unresearched people order them and break them by the dozen

I agree

even a half-*** engineering job on a rod wont make it blow up after a few runs.

there is most likely other info that we dont know about

There are a ton of Probe rod equipped Jerry Built and IB motors out there making good power with no rod issues

Theres definitely a reason behind a rod failing like that, its more than just the rod itself...

maybe u can give us some more info here?

engine/head setups?

rods sometimes dont last too long if the pistons are slapping the head ect ect...

It is very possibly that the rod bolts were not streched correctly while the engine was being built and therefor streched a couple thousandths while in the motor then I'm guesing a rod bolt gave in and the cap comes off, journal came back round hit the rod on the left side (see first pic) and bent the rod untill it snapped.

Also I'd like to know if this is a turbo or NA engine as prode have H-Beam rods for turbo cars, I-beam is shown in all hte above pics.

and Probe rods have been used in lots of powerful well built motors without any problems.

Bolts were still torqued to specifications and engine had plenty of oil, engine was naturally aspirated. You decide.

Is this out of the same engine or a different engine?
