Default Back from the Track - b16 in EG

Well im quite happy with how my car is running. The first time I went to the track, ran on steelies and did a 15.3 with horrible 60ft times.
After purchasing some Azenis I went back to the track again to try my luck

My setup is a JDM b16 from hmotorsonline in a 95 CX hatchback.
Things I changed while doing the swap, was timing belt, ACT street disc clutch kit, water pump, spark plugs/wires and a Fidanza Flywheel (spelled wrong prolly).
Took the car to the track with full interior, including the spare tire and jack.
No mods done other than stated, I just put a cheapo filter my friend gave me on the stock intake tube.(too broke after swap, buying a short ram intake soon tho).

Oh yea, i got a custom 2.5 crush bent piping with a resonator opened up to a 3inch N1 muffler. Surprisingly its not that loud until I hit "VTEC"H" YO" then all hell breaks loose

Anyways, here are my crappy times...( Track : Orlando Speedway )

R/T 60' 330 1/8 MPH 1000 1/4 MPH

1.082.......2.346........6.262.......9.558......75 .28....12.415.......14.852.....91.85

1.015.......2.291.......6.202.......9.499.......74 .78.....12.364.......14.805.....91.67

All in all im happy, I was launching at 5,500rpms and slipping the clutch. Tried alot of other methods to lower my 60ft times, but launchin that high and slippin the clutch seemed to yield the best times that night. Im not an experienced drag racer so just looking for some hints.....

Thanks for reading this far if ya made it, peace....

try different RPMs and lower your tire pressure.

You sure you are happy with those times? I mean, 91mph is one hell of a low trap for a B16 in an EG hatch. I was able to hit those traps in my 99 Si with only intake and header. Your 60 foots aren't that bad either... I don't know what is up, but I personally think 91mph is a bit of a low trap for that setup.

yea the trap seems low? I dunno. Lots were telling me 14.8 is not a bad time for the 60fts im pulling. Think somethings up with my engine?

i think the way your setup is now, you could hit mid 14s if you worked at it

i got a 00Si and i've got the same 60fts as you (2.2's) but i do have LSD

next time just take out the spare and the jack though

Yeah, 91mph is a pretty weak trap for a 160hp hatch. I would think somewhere around 95 would be more like where you should be trapping. I can't really compare your traps to mine as my engine is somewhat built and its not a B16... But I am trapping at 98mph in a 93 CX. My friend had a B16 in an EF hatch with similar mods to yours and he was pulling consistant 95mph traps. Stick your car on the dyno and see if it pulls low numbers. You should be around 145 to the from wheels.

I don't know. I can't see mid 14's with those traps. Just doesn't sound like its going to happen.

I also have a '92 Civic VX with a jdm B16 in it. The mods i have are DC Sports 4-1 header, cheap intake tube and filter, no cat, Thermal RD Snyper Cat-Back, gutted full interior except dash and seats, skunk 2 short shifter, and eibach pro kit with kyb struts. I no i no i should take it to the track one of these days but havent had time to but what would be some estimates on times. Thanks i just saw this thread and think i could run maybe a bit faster times.

My 93w/ jdm b16, short ram, act clutch and 4-1 header went 14.3 on street tires, launching at 5500. So you should be doing the same times but then again my buddy was running 14.7s consistently with the same setup and when i drove his car I brought the time down to mine. I was trapping at 96 to 98 with solid 1.9 to 2.1 60 fts.

My heavy *** 93 Si w/ JDM b16 w/ factory LSD, ITR intake, DC 4-1, test pipe, Greedy mid pipe, short ram intake, full interior ran a 14.3 but I can not drive!!!!

Compared to my setup thats good! I have a 93' Si w/JDM B16 I/H/E and 01'Type R cams with valve springs and the best I pulled was a 9.8 with a trap speed of 74mph. This was in a 1/8 mile track at Irwindale. My 60' times were mostly between 2.3-2.4 yeah I know but I was on some freakin' yokahama AVS ES 100s and I wasnt gripping for ****! Wheel hop all through first. I was launching at 5 grand and feathering the clutch but it wasnt working. I will be picking up some azenis and going back again. Man was I dissapointed!

EDIT: oh yeah, I am running an LS dizzy that didnt fit so I had to cut off one of the legs to fit, so my ignition timing is set at like 7 degrees advanced instead of the 15 degrees its supposed to be, because thats as far as it will go. You think that affected my times?
