Default Air fuel ratio for a NA B18C1

Yes I searched and found....mostly stuff for turbo'd cars. Im currently under the belief that my A/F should be around 13.0-13.5 under WOT.

Mods are:

P&P head
P&P gsr IM
Toda A cams
AEM V2
JDM ITR header
2.5" straight exhaust
11.3:1 CR
misc other stuff.

Tuning with Hondata

What should my A/F ratio be?

Yes, that's a good range to shoot for.

Only the dyno will tell

Rule of thumb isthat NA Hondas like 13.5 or so and that's what I've had the best results with so far..But go to a dyno and see where it makes most power

What about with Race Gas, Im using 110 Octane and my Air Fuels are around 13.0, I havnt tuned the car yet on the Dyno but baseline was at 230 hp @161 ft lbs. Maybe I will try leaning it out alot more and seeing if it will make more power. My plugs seem pretty white at 13.0 though.

Im going to have an O2 sensor, but Ill still be guessing as to where I NEED to set the A/F ratio. The only problem I have with the "wherever maximium power is", is that I want a good mix of power and reliability. I dont want to hear, well just set it to 12:1 or well 14.7:1 is the "optimum" point either....I want to hear reasonable suggestions. Im glad to see that I am getting resonable replies of around 13.5+/- .5 though, so thats probably where ill be starting from and going a little leaner or richer.

unfortunatly, with my b16 build i had a tuner who wanted to be SAFE. well truthfully, i would rather have 5 more whp all over than to be at "my favorite a/f"
so as i saw him dial it into a solid a/f there was a lean spot left and right at that spot HP was up bout 4whp unfortunatly, i coudlnt gety him to move my a/f curve all to that, so this time im tuning it myself

tune to power but make it safe.....if it makes most power at 13.7 i'd drop it down to 13.4 ish.....BE SAFE....make the engine last!!

Thats what Im saying. Either way, the guy I was going to take it to seemed a little to happy about peak power for my personal preference, so to atlanta I drive. Anyway, if a tuner wont tune it to YOUR specs then it might be time to find a new one. Thats what I did....the guy didnt seem like if I told him to tune it to 13.0:1 that he would, so Im going to somebody else.

Also remember that when you tune a car on a dyno, it will inherently run leaner on the street.

Why is that? (I'm not refuting you, I have just never heard of this...)

because there's a lot more air flow when moving at 100+ mph than on a dyno with just a huge fan blowing at the car
On the dyno go for 13:1 or so..
When I wideband tune I aim for 13.4-13.5 or so..

correct.

I made power around 13.8:1 when I dynoed recently. I dropped it down to about 13.2:1 and put it on the road.

also because there is a load being placed on the engine, so it has to work harder to accelerate the car then on an unloading dyno.

This is correct as well, there will be other factors on the road vs. the dyno, ie. wind, vehicle weight, air conditions etc.
