i'm assuming for alarms.. i could be wrong though.

the only reason i would ever go to an actual store to have it installed is the guarantee, if it gets fucked up i want someone to fix it no matter what.. then again i would just do it myself probably

I had mine done at Circuit only because someone I knew pretty well worked there. Otherwise, I wouldn't trust them. The way I see it, if they've done fewer than 100 alarm installs, they're still amateurs.

Maybe..but quess what we all had to start somewhere. Just because a person
works in a "chain store" does not mean they are a hack...your own statement
proves that. I recently trained a guy on alarms...he has done about 20 now and
he's getting better with each and every car. They way "I" see it unless you started
out with the fender mounted key alarms...you are an amateur .
Keep in mind there are great installers everywhere.

Here's my input...
I've been installing for almost 10 yrs, and I started at Circuit city. I've worked for about 5 places including small custom shops. I've done a million alarms and consider them one of my best strengths as an installer. I now work for Best buy. I can tell you that there are hacks at every shop, on every level. My job now is easy as hell compared to some of the places I've worked. On a place to place basis, you never know who's gonna do your ****....so my advice is just that.....talk to the installer thats gonna do your car before hand.

I concour...I too now work for Big Blue...and compared to some of
the other places I have worked..this place is a vacation. Basically
try to talk to the installers...and remember this....the best
installer may not be the most costomer friendly

Yeap, I remember the alarms back in the 70's. One horn speaker, metal case relays, fuse, install door pins on each door and hood, and a barrel key cylinder switch right below the door key hole or the fender..ha ha.

Not good advice.. i know people who are always getting there alarm fixed on warrenty at some shop.. you wana trust your alarm..

and the installer, lets just say some of them might install a extra switch hidden or keep a remote programed to your ****, one day you get took and your alarm gets stolen too, it happens.

by me voting ebay i ment for buying an alarm.

You do your best to talk to the installer..apeal to their skills...
"Say If this was your car and you were trying to protect it,
what would you do?" You would get a real idea from them..then ask
questions of why? ie: "Why add a hood pin switch to my car...my hood
switch is inside..if they open the door the alarm will trigger - Right?"
The statement I made was because not every installer is good with
customers...The best installer I have ever worked with...he could do
wonders with relays and cars...hated talking to customers. I have a found
memory of a customer asking a question and him diving under a dash
to avoid talking to her. ( with was good because she was a great piece of *ahem*
...sorry bout that I had a flashback )

carry on

For installation, do it yourself. No one has more pride in your car than you do, so it will look best.

As of purchasing, Get a friend that works at best buy. The discount is like 45 percent. If you dont have any friends, pay somebody t50 extra bucks to buy your stuff.

Right... . If you believe that..I can get you a deal on the Brooklyn
and Golden Gate bridges ( hey its 2 for 1 special ). All joking aside, its true
that no one will beat you on the pride of ownership issue, But get real...an
alarm for a novice is a very daunting task. There can be a few as 8 critical
connections to well over 20 that have to be made, systems interfaced with,
etc. Tap a wrong circuit and its a trip to the dealer and a $$$$ bill. Plus most
peeps dont have patience...I can imagine a multi colored rats nest of wires
under the dash. Have fun.

True...but the company is so **** about abuse of the purchase plan, the will
terminate upon abuse..no if ands or buts. So if you were a true friend,
would you ever put yours in that type of situation?

True also, It really depends on the friend and how high he is in the company. Best buy is very **** about everything so you jus gotta be carefu and make a good decision.
