Its called a rev limiter. Its so u dont blow up ur engine.

 

Maybe your motor is not meant to rev that high. It's probably your rev limiter.

 

normal will rev to 6500 easy it dont feel like the limiter i know wot that feels like opps! it feels like it is bogging

 

you propabably red line it to much you ****

 

put in an ex computer and see if it goes past 6

 

i have 95 civic dx it will not rev over 6000rpm all 1.5 sohc will do that

Really? Why does the LX cluster (which is also a D15B7) have a 6,400 RPM redline?

 

Reason is so u dont blow up ur engine... if u sit there reving ur engine:

1: You WILL blow it up eventually

2: You look like a moron.

So if u want to do one of those keep revin it!.

 

Its incredible how no one has contributed anything helpful at all.

Check plug wires, dist rotor and cap, any CEL's ? Wont hurt to check your oil either. Have you done any recent work to the car, backtrack. Think of what you may not have put back correctly.

A stock d15b7's rev limiter is at 6500 rpm, so for all you people, no it is not the rev limiter.

 

you sure its a sohc vtec? i mean mine was a 1.6 but it wasnt a vtec.
