Default ITR PERFORMANCE EXHAUST

Hey I was just wondering if the ITR exhaust is performance enough so its not holding the motor back.... I know its more flow efficent than the GSR... But I dont want to have a COP ridding my *** for exhaust noises, or is there and exhaust thats Nice quiet but packs a good punch thanks

the itr exhaust in stock form does have a couple bottlenecks. you can either fix them, or get an aftermarket set up.

if you fix the bottlenecks, will it out perform aftermarket exhaust?

Which particular aftermarket exhaust(s) are you comparing it to? The stock ITR exhaust has bottlenecks, inconsistet diameter tubing, and a chambered muffler. Most aftermarket exhausts will only have a bottleneck at the cat mounting flange and use a straight-through muffler.

If you can cut and then weld a piece on yours and make it work then go for it. But let me tell you. the stock ITR exhaust is SS and the part I got from SMSP is also SS, I'd like to see you TIG weld it. And welding SS is a ****.

Your best bet is to get something custom made for you. Or buy an aftermarket system like T1R or Mugen. Most aftermarket exhausts are loud with a few exceptions, Apexi WS & Mugen. If you get a custom job then choose your muffler wisely. SMSP has made some the most amazing set-ups I've ever seen. Mild to wild. Bling to sleeper. You get what you pay for. Fixing up the stock exhaust just doesn't seem worth it.

ITR exhaust outflows the GSR exhaust by 30% FYI

i believe omniman made like just under 230whp on a b20z w/ gsr crank/rods, hytech header, but 2.25 exhaust.

my other friend made like 216whp open header and i think 209 w/stock itr exhaust bolted on.

unless you've got a hardcore build, the most i would do is test pipe or highflow cat/custom b pipe, stock itr axleback.

I think 50 state legal IF you use greddy exhaust AND greddy header. I had asked my Greddy dealer for the original 50 state certificate but he said since I used a non Greddy header, it won't apply

SO i would have to get the header and exhaust combo...."You know if you have a Type R exhaust, you will make just as much power and it will be quieter... just something to think about" this is what this topics about... but I guess the best setup is the Greddy kit

Even so, what's 2-3 HP for, I assume, a street-driven car?

I'd take a few HP hit for a nice quiet exhaust and one that keeps me away from the cops.

Those guys running around with N1 exhausts on their otherwise stock car freaking crack me up. All they do is make noise and very little power over something that could be a lot quieter.

I love the way the stock ITR muffler looks; is there any way to hook up larger diameter piping to the stock ITR muffler??? That would be sweet!!!

so lets say you kept the stock ITR muffler and added a 2.5 mandrel bent catback, how would that perform?

I've got the DC JDM header, car sound cat with Apexi WS cat back and you can't hear a thing. Honestly, it sounds stock as can be, I love it. As for keeping the stock muffler look. If this Apexi WS was too loud (isn't really loud because it is a muffler) I was going to get like a magnaflow or some other free flowing muffler and maybe put that polished ITR muffler tip on the end to keep it looking stock but still be performing a little better.

I like this.

That R Catback is 2.25 correct.
