Default Semi-Pointless Post: Y80 gearbox weight vs. J1 gearbox weight

For those curious:

Y80 - 85lbs
J1 - 84lbs

I weighed the two hoping that the increased weight of a B18C1 vs a B16A1 was largely due to the hydro gearbox.

nope. It seems to be that the B18C1 weighs roughly 9lbs more than a B16A1.

i tried to weigh the engines, but, a bathroom scale is tough to see the weight when an engine is placed on top... but, with a ROUGH estimate, the GSR weighs around 210lbs, minus gearbox/flywheel.

Well, one thing I can add is that gsr intake manifold is much heavier than the b16a.

edit, GSR is 9lbs more than B16, not 60lbs.

I have no clue where I got 60lbs though.

HAHA, good, I was questioning that too. PHEW. Ryan

PS, the IM is heavier, and the deck height being like 7mm higher adds a hair.

9pounds!!!! that's it???!?!? where are all those people telling me that the -18 is so much heavier that it will throw my suspension setup out of wack. damnit.

someone weigh a b16 and a h22. with trannys (the non eggy type)

if they are anywhere close, my swap is gonna change.

depends... I pulled my figures from a website for engine weights.

although only .003% of the car's weight, 9lbs eventually will add up when you keep adding stuff.
