Replace brakes before or after track session?
I may be heading to the Streets of Willow Springs at the end of the month.
My stock brakes and rotors have 60k daily driver miles. Should I replace the brakes now or after?

Replace now. And if there's anything left on the (old) pads, bring them with you just in case.
-dave, who has burnt through a set of pads that seemed like they had plently of "meat" left.

that is a really good plan. if all goes well you wont have to jack around with the car during your school, which is good, because you need to be concentrating on driving. if things dont go so well and you burn up your new pads you have something to get home on.

If the rotors are in good shape, source yourself some aftermarket pads appropriate for track use and put them in before you go. Bleed the brakes, have fun, and when you're done, put your stock pads back in for the street.

Generic or OEM pads will perform like crap, overheat easily, possibly catch on fire (I have first hand experience), and you can go through an entire front set in one track day. They would also "warp" the rotors every time on me. That was all long ago and now I look back and realize how silly it was. There is absolutely no substitute for good pads on a road course. No amount of ducting or oversized rotors will even compare.
In my experience, Cobalt Spec-B's make really nice dedicated track pads. Big thumbs up from me. Excellent grip, good resistance to heat, and long life; it blows every "performance" street/track pad out of the water. The price seems high at first, but the number of laps you can get out of them makes them cheap. Just clean your wheels and car off after using them, otherwise the crap will attach itself to the wheels and paint and you'll have to use clay bar to get it all off. (or you can be a dumbass and wet sand it like I did, then have to use all kinds of polish to fix the clear coat

If there is any question in your mind wether they will be O.K. or not, service them before the track day - you do not want a failure at the track and things wear MUCH faster than you expect out there.
I used to have a set of street rotors and pads that I used daily driving, to get me to and from the track.
I then had track rotors and pads..
If those got destroyed, my track day was over, and I was still able to get home on my street set
