Default How much whp to run a 13 sec. 1/4th?

I'm in the process of building my b20/vtec to swap into an Integra I will purchasing this week (hell yeah ) and my goal is to basically run 13's stock. The car itself is a 94 Integra LS, for specifics and such. My set-up will list as the following:

99 B20z2
OBD-1 GSR head
00 b16 transmission
AEM v2
Header (undecided)
HKS Hi-Power Exhaust
Exedy Organic Disk Clutch
Fidanza 8 lb. flywheel
Apex'i V-AFC

I will also be running Tokico Illumina's with Vis coilovers, and either a 15 or 16 in. Slipstream with Azenis. Granted I am a competent driver, and that the track conditions aren't horrible, how easy would it be for me to run a 13 second 1/4th mile run?

I doubt to even hit it on this set-up itself, but I am curious to know what else it will take. I am waiting on all of my parts to get here and once I assemble them, I will be getting some dyno tuning done via V-AFC. I'm only hoping for low 170's to the wheels.

Thanks for any information. This isn't really anything hypothetical, I am just curious to know what it has taken others to hit 13's all motor in an Integra and what all their mods were compared to mine.

You're definitely not going to hit 13's on that setup. You're going to need to do a lot more to run 13's, especially if you want to run low 13s. I have a feeling you will probably run about a 14.5 if you are perfect in your run. Nitrous is always a possibility too.

I agree, you'll need about 200whp and some torque to get into the 13s, imo. With your setup as stated, I would say you'll hit mid to high 14's.

truthfully i dont think its ever been coverd as to how much whp it takes to really drop times in the integra. like roughly how much for 14, how much for 12's i think its a decent question

Check out C-Speedracing.com. They built a B20Vtec and put it in their ITR a couple years back. I'm pretty sure they were in the 13's with street tires, but they had upgraded the internals (high comp pistons, cams). The motor and car are long gone by now, but the info and articles are still up on the site. Read up and see what you'd need to attain your goals

I agree with ^^^ With built internals, a high comp ratio..11.5-12.0, and a really good port matched head, and flowing exhaust not to mention really tight rear end springs and stiff fronts, 13s are reachable. I agree with the other guys as well..you need about 200 whp to get you there. I dunno what your set up weighs, but weight reduction will be a big factor also. Good luck with the b20!

in a full weight integra on street tires its not easy to h it 13's
you need about 200whp to hit 13's
and thats like high comp pistons and some sunk2 stage 2's or something in that ball park
with all the bolt ons and stuff
you preatty need a fully built motor to hit 13's

I do have intentions of eventually putting a 75 shot Nitrous Express kit, but I want to get some headwork and Skunk 2 stage 2's before I do that. I guess I will have to find pistons I like before I do all that.

I figured it would take 200+, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't thinking wrong. Thanks for the help guys.

Using Azenis aren't gonna help your cause. They have too stiff a sidewall. Get some good cams, and some higher compression if you want 13s. Either way keep us posted.

My GSR has around probably 140whp stock. With I/H/E and cams, I can only hit high 14's to low 15's. I'd agree with the 200-250whp if you wanna hit 13's

Your ITR is lighter than the LS (I believe, correct me if i am wrong) and you have a better tranny for the track. Slicks help a bunch too

Why don't you check out the Honda Tuning article they just recently completed. Their goal was to make a 13sec car with only $10K !! That included buying the car. It was a cool article. They went over budget but only because they splurged on a few things like a stereo and expensive wheels. CHECK IT OUT !!!!!

duno if this was posted. saw this online some where.

e.t. = 5.825*(weight/whp)**1/3

that's e.t. is 5.825 times the cubic root of weight divided by horsepower. weight is inlcuding driver.

shoudl run 13'ss

i ran 14.236 at 96.56 mph in a 99 gsr jsut , obd1 gsr chipped ecu, short ram intake , ctr crank pulley and weighed in at 2300 lbs on street tires

so i beleiev u can run 13's with your setup no problem , i know if i had your setup id be in low 13's
