(or taken the oldschool wagon drivetrain and put it in the crx?) please dont flame...just curious. thanks.

uh oh. get your flak jacket on mang. do a search. this has been covered before. be prepared for the, "you can do anything if you had enough money," and so forth. even though you asked not to flame, people can be mean and put your on the bbq. oldschool wagon drivetrain? just say you put all the ends to make it happen. i doubt that thing would be able to sustain that much power and remain reliable. you'd have to custom fab a bunch of parts. to much $ and hassel in the long run. for the amount of money your gonna dish out, just buy a renault r5 and try to legalize it. hahaha...like uncle sam would allow that. hmm...maybe.

Save your money, buy a Subie WRX or WRX/STI.

I have a WRX and a CRX HF. Lots of interesting upgrades for WRXs. Some for STI. But STI has drive-by-wire ECU that is giving the moders head-aches. Still STI comes with 300 HP, adjustable 4 all while drive split (front-to-back).

I like my WRX and I like my CRX. Each has it's good and bad points. Trying to make one out of the other is a waste of time in my opinion.

But if your just mad for an insane project.. then do it. I would personally rather spend money building a turbo'd dart block with some sort of high end engine managment, with LSD and suspension mods to complement it rather than doing a crazy 4wd CRX.

if you do it you should use the old civic wagon parts and use a ZC that would be easiest drive train wise

the major problem would be the gas tank and mounting the rear diff
you would most likely end up mounting the gas tank in the car and welding in some kind of bracket for the diff

you will be hard up to find a manual tranny from a 4wd civic
your best bet is to find a complete running donor car

if you do find a manual one it will be a 6speed
