1st I would say shox are the most important. Then the springs (coil overs). Many will say to autox stock and become a good driver. But if you want suspension Koni Yellow Shox and Ground Control Coil Overs w/ custome sping rates are the ****.

Dont slam your car. It dosent make handling the best.

Just go and drive it as is. When you feel you've reached the limitations of your stock equiptment then upgrade. Most suspension mods and simple bolt ons are going to throw you into a mod class.

If you just can't leave it stock do like stylin honda said Koni yellows/GC combo you can't go wrong there. Just make sure what spring rates you want to start with so you don't have to buy them three or four times. Go on out to some local autox's and check out some other cars and see if you can get a ride along.......

Check out the sfrscca.org website. I don't know where you are located in ca but they have events as far south as marina....

no you do not need a roll cage. if you put in a roll cage it will limit you to the classes you can participate in.

i agree with this for the most part. a seat really improves your confidence to corner and tires are probably the best bang for your buck suspension wise. next, get springs and shocks and then the 22 mm swaybar to complement the new suspension. you'll really need stiffer rear springs though to avoid damage to your subframe from the swaybar

lots of seat time and a drivers school will net you much faster times than any suspension mods can. get some azenis, go drive the car as is; and until you feel that the car is what's holding you back, don't touch it. try to look far ahead all the time.

< --doing just that and is finally starting to turn faster times - after hopelessly changing suspension setups every week.

good mods for autox (consider what class you want to run before buying anything):
falken azenis or R compound tires (13 or 14")
LSD
koni yellows / ground control coilovers (you pick spring rates)
rear sway bar
seat + harness

and seat time
