Intake for 6th gen. 4cyl Accord ... extra component?
I just purchased a new intake for my Accord to replace my short ram just for the hell of it. However, after we installed the main pipe, we realized there was still a shorter length of pipe left. The combined efforts of a computer technician, graphic designer, and veteran mechanic resulted in "we have no idea how this fits in, let's leave it out!" Even without the piece there, it sounds great and feels good, but I really don't know where to install it. I was hoping someone who's done this many times before would. Here are some pictures...
This first shot is the installed new intake as best we could figure. We're pretty sure we got it right since it lines up perfectly within the engine:
This second shot is of the second piece next to the main pipe. Where the heck would this go? There is not much room in front of the air filter as it is:
This third picture is a close up of the mystery pipe:
If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. I also posted this over in the technical forum.

Looks like a cold air intake extension. Is there a hole where the pipe could go down? There may be an intake resonator down there, and you'll have to take the fender lining out to remove it. Ive never dealt with 6th gens before, but its exactly what I had to do with my 5th gen.
Looks like the second piece of pipe needs to go through the hole in the orange box (which is probably part of the intake resonator). You'll need to jack the car up, either take out the fender lining or the bumper, and remove the resonator. The bracket on the second piece should also bolt in place of one of the bolts for the stock air box.
Actually the hole circled is the air inlet to the resonator box. The hole should be below the filter and you will need to remove the resonator box to install the cold air extension. You should also have a piece of rubber and two claps to attach it to the other pipe already installed.
Hope that helps.
