Hi guys,
I had a question for those of you CRX owners who have premade exhausts like the RSR Exmag or Greddy SP2 which are designed to bolt up to the stock CRX cat. With your swaps what cat and header did you guys use, and how much longer did you have to get it extended?
I will be getting either a RSR Exmag or a Greddy SP2 for my B18C swapped CRX. For my header I will probably be getting a 97 JDM ITR header, which IIRC is a 4-2-1 design. I will also be getting a matching 97 JDM ITR cat, so with that combo I was wondering how much will I have to extend my cat. I've heard that you'll have to have the back end of tje cat extended by about 2 inches.
I was thinking that when I buy my cat, I would take it to my local muffler shop and have the back end lengthened 2 inches make sure I have the correct flange welded on the rear of the cat.
so what's the word about extending the cat?
Thanks

Also one other question: what's a good alternativce (preferably OEM) to the 97 JDM ITR cat which still bolts up ok with the 97 JDM ITR header?
when i put my LS in my 91 hatch and put my header on my cat was too long
sounds like i need to get one from a CRX before i have to pass the sniffer
you should try one for a 91 civic standard

i have a b18c in a crx. using a GSR sized header, i had to extend the cat about 3-4 inches.
this makes it so you can attach any bolton exhaust

Sweet, thanks dude I'll probably have my cat extended 3.5 inches then. Did you use a GSR cat, or your stock CRX cat? I doubt my CRX cat would work with the 97 JDM ITR header I plan on buying (ir will it)?
For those of you guys running the JDM ITR headers with 2.5 inch collector, what OEM cat are you guys using?
TIA

most people either weld on a new 2.5" flange to their existing cat or test pipe.
or for the best setup IMO would be a genuine R cat.

heh, i didn't extend mine at all, i just took the cat off, cut it, rotated the flange, welded it back on. If you pull it hard enough you can get the bolts in.. this of course is the cheap *** way to do it, but it works.

I saw that he had a 2.5" cat FS, but it looks kinda old. If I have to buy it it'll either be a used OEM one, or a new aftermaret one.
I had another question for you guys. For those of you with JDM ITR headers and name-brand catbacks. How long is your cat? If I buy a universal cat, I want to know how long it would have to be . I would rather get the welding done beforehand, so that I can just bolt up my exhaust after the swap is complete.
Thanks

Hmmm, I'm sure I cant go with a 99-00 Si header for my B18C though. I'd consider a OEM B18C1 header, but it might be a little too restrictive for my setup (S2 IM, S2S1 cams). Also, you have a hatch...so I dont know if that'll make a difference since I have a CRX DX.
I just recieved the last few major parts for my swap. All I have to get now is the header, cat, a few nuts and bolts, some vacuum hoses and maybe a GSR fuel feed line.
EDIT: BTW Joe, what fuel line setup did you use for your swap?
TIA

Yah, I have a B18C with a Skunk2 IM. So I think we are similar in that area, but not in the header/cat area. I've been trying to figure out how I'm gonna do my fuel feed line. I wasn't sure if I could use the DX pulsation dampener, or if I needed to get the GSR one.
Thanks

Hey guys, I just wanted to bring this thread up one last time. I ended up getting a OEM GSR header and cat, which I will be using temporarily. Will I still need to get teh OEM GSR cat extended 3-4 inches?
IIRC it is a 95 GSR cat (18.5" long), GSR header, and I have my Greddy SP2 catback. I wanna avoid any trips to the muffler shop. Or if that cant be avoided, I will go and get a 4 inch extension made up instead of cutting and extending the GSR cat.
Thanks

[QUOTE=Fobtions]im pretty sure you will be ok it might not be perfect but at least you know the flanges will line up. good luck[/QUOTE[
Yup, It looks like the flanges for my catback, GSR cat and GSR header will at least line up, so that's one less thing to worry about. Hopefully when I bolt up the header and the cat, it will still reach my catback.

Hey Fobtions,
I had a question for you if you dont mind me asking...exactly what cat, catback, header and mount kit do you have? while I was doing my exhaust during the swap, I found that a GSR cat is too long by about 2-3 inches. I swapped the GSR cat with my stock DX cat, and I ran that along with my OEM GSR header and Greddy SP2 catback (and HCP mount kit). I had to push back on the cat/catback becuse it was about an inch or so too long, but I managed to get use all those parts together with no problems.
So now I am wondering if the Si and HF have the same length cat as my DX. Because if so then if looks like I didn't even need to buy a GSR cat. I could have used my OEM X cat, along with the OEM GSR header all along. Right now I am thinking about getting a DC sports 4-1 or maybe a Comptech 4-1 and a 2.25" cat (for a CRX application). I'm guessing that the DC GSR 4-1 should bolt up fine too, but should be a little better then my OEM GSR header and 2" DX cat.
