best clutch for the r without any squeaks, clicks, or any other issues...
ive been been doing a lot of searches on clutches . im not looking for a stock clutch because i do want something that grabs hard but i do not want to lose that stock feel from my oem clutch. i heard alot of noise issues with act. an adjustment problem with the pushrod for the exedy.. i really dont mind a stiffer pedal but i really dont want any noise issues when pressing the pedal or any clutch chatter cause that gets annoying to me. flywheels are no biggie cause i pretty much know what i want with that, but as far as a clutch is concerned im really stuck. something not too expensive like toda.
Clutchmasters Stage 3 has gotten me through 35k miles so far doing 8 HPDE's, 1/4mile drag runs, an auto-x and daily driven all in between, and still pulling hard
maybe stock with a lightweight flywheel. That's my current setup and it seems to work well. The clutch engagement is pretty quick, but not annoying like a 6puck setup. I may be looking to replace mine this spring to get rid of my clutch click, but other than that, it seems fine.
Clutchmaster Stage III is an decent clutch been on one of my motors for around 20k without a hint of slippage and it sees descent abuse.Pedal Effort slightly higher than stock, much better pedal feel.
ACT something with extreme pressure plate is also nice. The pedal effort is slightly higher than the CM but holds just as strong.
IMHO I would stay away from unsprung clutches if you drive in traffic or on the street due to the engagement properties.

I would say that stock will give you the best stock feel
I have the ACT xt-ss for a year now and except for it being super stiff (i like that) I have had no problems.
I had the Excedy and it blew up real quick and needed to be adjusted from time to time

I have the clutchmasters stage III as well and i have no complaints. Pulls very nice and you dont have to attach a brick to your foot to push in the clutch

I've heard good things about the CM products but haven't tried them
What I have tried is the Action 1KS kevlar clutch. Looking at the design of the pressure plate and flywheel I can tell you they've improved all of the weak points inherent in the stock design.
Plus, it's Kevlar so it's got the bite, but the pedal feel is stock.

I have had both the action in the picture and the CM III, and the clutch disks look almost identical. DIdn't compare them in extreme detail, but could they be made by the same company?
i'm running stock clutch disk, stock release bearing with stronger pressure plate (1800lbs) at 260whp for about 15K miles. i think pressure plate is the weak point in itr setup unless stock or something.
hmm you want more then oem performance with an oem feel for a good price? you my friend are describing exedy clutch's..exedy makes great clutch's and ive read they make almost all of the oem clucth's in japan(daiken if i remember correctly) id recommend the exedy huper single cluthc, flywheel combo
or if you dont want a flywheel try the exedy stage 2 i have the exedy organic race clutch and it feels a little stiffer then stock but only to the point where you can feel the clutch not like the oem honda feel and it grabs so nice and firm..i recommend it to everyone and everyone thats got it since love it

I just bought an 1ks, havent put it in yet, but from what I hear, it's everything you can ask for in a street clutch for under 200whp. Only down side is it can't handle repeated drag launches due to the material characterisitics of the kevlar.
the problem with askign about clutch is people speak without really trying all of the clutch because its hard to actually try all of the clutchs. but u cant go wrong with clutch master the action 1ks ive heard that since its kevlar and only one disc after racing repeatedly at the drag strip it wont catch but for all clutch you have to give time in between races for the clutch to cool down. the act hd ss is a good clutch also the old design wasnt good at high rpm's but they fixed that the exedy clutch is known for the spring to get loose or come out some say its install error maybe so but its happening to many people. ur call most clutchs should be good enough but once u find the one ur gonna get do some research. i went with the act hd ss ive had exedy also wasnt too bad.

You have been happy with that? I toasted mine in 11k miles. I was very disappointed with the pedal too...
