Default Torque Wrench

Well, after doing my oil pan gasket last week, then having it leak at Gingerman, I have to redue the job. Last time, I didn't have a trq wrench that could go low enough. So I went to 8 stores to day, to find one that would. Only thing that I found that would work perfectly also costed $200. To rich for my blood. Craftsman had on that went from 10-8x for $60.

Keep in mind the oil pan gasket bolts are to be tighted to 7ft lbs.

I bought the craftsman smallest click style which again goes from 10-80. To adjust, it has the numbers on the shaft in increments of 10, then you can adjust the ones place by adjusting the handle grip (like most trq wrenchs)

Now my question. Is it possible to go to 10lbs, then back the grip 3lbs to get down to 7ftlbs?

won't really work. I already bought the craftsman 10-80 FTlbs, plus, I can't go any longer without a car. Tommrow is my day off, so I will be fixing it then.

Let me get this straight.. You're looking for a torque wrench that'll go down to 7ft-lbs of torque??.. Why waste the money. With that small of a torque spec, I just use my trusty 1/4 drive ratchet and hold it as close to the head as possible and give it a 1/4 turn at most after the bolt has threaded up to the oil pan. But that's just what I do at the dealership.

Whatever you do is up to you..
