Default trany fluid

I am changing out my trany fluid and autozone said to use plain old 10W 30, 10W 40 motor oil. is this correct? I have a ls motor and trany. i push the car sometimes but not all the time. I just dont want to put the wrong thing in and break something. any insite will help.

No.

Use Honda MTF.

Go to any Honda dealer and you can pick some up.

you can, and nothing will happen. the manual even says it's alrite for limited periods of time.

but i'd pick up some good fluid sooner or later. might as well... gm synchromesh friction modified comes to mind. when i went to pick it up, the parts guy looked at me and said 'u own a honda, don't you?' and i had to laugh.

Why do you say friction modified? Most people just say to use the regular.

id used honda mtf if you could get ahold of it, if not, 10w30 oil is fine...thats at least what it said in my book at my store also.

Use GM syncromesh.

Use GM syncromesh friction modified if you have an LSD.

I went to honda and got some mtf and planning to change it out tonight.
