Newbie help: Guage Cluster w/tach, Center console questions
I have 98 civic dx hatchback and was wondering if the speedometer clusters are interchangable and for what years (i think 96-00 directly swap). This is my first civic, so i am not fimiliar with hondas....yet. My car came with the cheap cluster that has no tach and i would like a factory oem one that has a tach.
Also my dx doesn't come with an arm rest inbewteen the seats and was wondering which year civics and models come with a middle console between the seats that are perfect swaps into my dx hatchback.
Thanks for help
Mike

thanks so much for the info....i had been searching for long time...its just that never found a definete yes you can swap or no you cannot and whether or not it matter if it was an auto or a manual....
As for the arm rests are they pretty much direct swaps as well?
I already tracked down a ex cluster out of a 97 for 50 bucks at a local junkyard (sounds like a fair deal as compared to ebay)

You will need the rear mounting bracket from a civic with a arm rest center console. Civic's such as yours that don't have the armrest, do not have the rear mounting bracket, so you'll want that to make your new armrest secured.

you really don't need the rear mounting bracket, I have the middle console in my hatch without that brackets and it's fine, if you need a gauge cluster with a tach, PM me i may have an Si one available for you

True, you don't absolutely need one, but it will move around if you don't have one. Mine does.
