the valving will deteriorate over time as you've reduced the travel on the shocks with the shorter springs, that's the case with all lowering springs. From the factory, the shocks could use more rebound dampening, and it'll only get worse with lowering springs. If you're tight on funds, you can either wait and save up for new chocks (koni yellows) or just get the springs now and then pay someone again for install when you get the shocks.

Do the install yourself. Its EXTREMELY easy. Find the DIY on S2ki.com and follow it. Took me about 2 hours with friends, (don't do it alone).
if you track your car hks springs are bad.. it's not much of a drop i think 1 inch..... but they are great for street......if you were just to get springs you should go with esphiler (i spelt it wrong) but my buddy has those on his s and it's got about a 1.33 to 1.5 inch drop and it still ride very very nicely with no aftermarket shocks....
Yea - grab a friend and do it. Its a great DIY job - youll learn alot about your suspension as well.
Dont rip the ball joint boot. I say this simply because I just did that last night. Spilled grease everywhere...erg.

The drop depends on the springs. If you've found an original set of Super Forms (black) then the drop is pretty good. Something like 1.5 or more. If they're the newer SF5s (white, I think) the car will sit a bit higher.
Neither will be ideal for track use. The rates are pretty soft compared to most coilover setups.
I've got the original Super Forms on my car. I'll post pics if you want to see what the drop is like. Just let me know

Actually - the Helms says to take a ball joint separator and take it apart to do it.
I was pissed - because then I realized that I didnt need to. Managed to rip a boot though. Standard.

lol, the helms says a lot of stuff, but you don't have to follow the helms. Some time around ball joint seperation will show you what a big hammer can do in popping out a ball joint. It's quick, easy, and painless (unless you smack something other than your ball joint).

Eh...well since it was my first time working on the S2k...I wanted to do it "by the book", so to speak
Oh well, lesson learned. Itll take an hour to do the whole thing next time.
