ZC = d series?
a9/a8 are UKDM. The ZC has no real parts of its 'own' in the states. We're merely mixed bits and pieces of other motors. But essentially, they're D series motors which rely on a mix match set of parts. There's many sites out there that give you the list and part # of the parts from basic (oil filters..89 integra) to advanced (head gaskets..92 preludes I believe.) Just do a search here, google/yahoo, or http://www.thezcr.com - Darrell
Screw you guys, I'm... going... home.

Well, to answer your question...
The JDM dohc ZC and the EDM A8/A9 engines are *similar* to, and share *some* parts with, the USDM D16A1 engine from the USDM 86-89 Integra. There are many versions; some carbed, some fuel injected, some with the D16A1 bell housing bolt pattern, some with the 88+ Civic d-series bell housing bolt pattern, etc. The head bolt pattern of these engines is different from the 88+ sohc d-series because it has one bolt hole the doesn't line up. (NOTE: the ONLY other blocks these heads will bolt onto are from the 84-87 Civic/crx EV, EW, and D15A3 engines. If you want to know more about this go to redpepperracing and do a search for "hydra") And no, it isn't worth the money and effort of having a machine shop try to make it work on a sohc block. Why? 1) Because there are sohc heads that flow just as well, i.e. the Z6 and Y8, and 2) you can make almost any other sohc head flow as well as a dohc head by getting it ported & polished and buying a better cam. If you just gotta have that second cam, zip-tie one on the outside of your engine. Bling factor, yO!
