What do you think is the best platform for a turbo in a 5th gen?
I want a semi-fast setup like low 14's high 13's
I have a couple of ideas
the first is the most expensive and the one I prob wont do, but would love too, K24 block, K20 head and a t3/t4 I think that would produce some nice numbers but getting a k24 block might be too expensive. I want the K20 head so I can rev higher. Also with it being so new, there is not that much out there for it tunning wise.
the second idea is a H22 or a H23 Turbo. but ive been reading that alot of people say that h22 + turbo = boom...... Though I dont know why I was hoping some one can clue me in or point me in the right direction for info on this.
the third and last idea is a F22 vtec turbo with a h22 tranny. this would be cheeper but how much PSI could I run, would I hit a wall where I couldnt do anything more to it.
if you guys have any suggestions or know of some good reading material then please post up.
thanks
search this forum...and why in God's name would you swap a k24? thats just pissing away money...the F22 is the perfect platform for turbo. you really need to do more research before you make a decision. you WILL be spending a lot of money on this project should you persue it. to get into the 13's...i would say you would have to run ~15psi (i could be off wrong, but thats about right)...you could run that on stock internals on the F22 with the proper fuel management (dont skimp on this or you'll pay dearly for it)...but its only going to last for so long. thats why you build up your internals (forged pistons/rods/sleeves/crank/blah) to run a high amount of boost. you have to remember that the accord is heavy....its not like slapping a turbo on an CRX. it will take time and money.... if you're not doing the work yourself....then expect to pay a pretty penny. the h22 has weak ring lands and high compression so those are the main reason they arn't turbo friendly. big deal! build it up and turbo and prepare to rape people left and right! do some more research and figure out what you want and what you can afford (not to mention, will this be a daily driver?). good luck!

Go ahead and try and swap a K into the 5th gen. Then you can write a DIY for us
H22 and turbo does not equal 'boom' if you do it right. Mainly you have to get new guts (internals) or keep the boost low. I opted for the former. In your case if you just wanna run 14's an H22 do will that without turbo and with limited bolt-ons. And for God's sake, SEARCH!

also on your f22 turbo with h22 tranny, why, you would want the f22 tranny with the turbo longer gears, please read anything on the site before considering doing anything to your car

i dont buy it. for this application i FIRMLY FIRMLY believe the h would get you there faster than the f, due to the huge diff in numbers. remember its a low boost accord, not a 26psi turbo monster that needs long gearing. so boost the vtec f and throw on the h tranny. dont even mess with a k series in a 5th gen.

Bullshit, unless you want to die with the accords 380mph gearing.
I had an H23a1 trans on my turbo accord, it worked perfect. The accords gearing is too long, especially if this guy wants 1/4 mile times.

dont worry guys, im stilll in the research phase, i havent even begain to look at buying parts, thanks for all the responses.
i tried searching but this fourm sucks at the search.
im going to keep reading, and ask qustions, even though every time I do, people flame me, but I ussaly get an answear out of someone who doesnt care that every time you search it gives you like two threads to read.
on the F22b how much PSI could you run with out touching the internals?
Does it need to be intercooled?
I was already fiqureing I would have to mess with fuel, i was thinking of bigger injectors, FPR and doing something with the ECU so I can control the fuel maps, though I dont know what yet im still learning/reading up on it.
if you guys know of a place where I can read up on what to do about the fuel/ecu that would be a big help.
thanks.

on the fuel situation, an Apexi VAFC would work ok but if you want fine tuning, then go with Hondata. a couple of my friends work it with the VAFC but my friends cars that run Hondata, they run SOOOO much better!!! as far as the tranny, i'd get an H23 tranny, perfect for turbo f22. but keep searching and learning.

You can find them occasionally with an LSD.

Yeah, too bad those cost more the actual tranny itself

well if he cant find any with LSD that would be definately an expensive way to get LSD but by far the best, i think
