97 Accord Auto
Hi everybody, I am currently an owner of a 1997 Accord LX Auto and was wondering what all I'd need a long with a turbo etc. Would It even be worth it to try to turbo an 97 accord thats an auto? Lately I've heard auto's are actually nice for turbo's becuase of WOT's but I've also heard that 97 accord auto trannies are weak. My goal is to get a daily driver that has at least 230 hp. If this is possible, what price range am I possibly looking at?
Also what would a pricing be if i were to try to swap a h22a and then h22 tranny to get a manual?

well to be safe you'll want to beef up your transmission....honda autos are weak. if you want to put something in your car and not have to fool with it then the h22 is perfect for you....with bolt ons of course. turbo requires a lot of care and upkeep....not to mention it will need to be tuned for it to run properly or you will hurt something. if 230hp is all you want then go with the h22...it will be more of a drop in and forget about it (to an extent). your looking at ~2000 - 3000 for the engine and another ~1200 for swap. now you could find deals or what not..or you might run into problems so it might run more. just ballpark figures. whatever you do, i wish you the best of luck!
hope this helped!

thx for the info. With an H22a swap, CAI, Exhaust system etc. I'd probably be above 230 whp right? I've heard that acceleration on the h22a is slow becuase vtec isn't active right away, so will i not have the greatest accelleration?
Also about trannies, how much does the h22 tranny cost plus installation? And what things would I need to build my current tranny. Sorry for all the questions heh.

a h22 + CAI + exhaust does not equal 230, well at least to the wheels
also most H22 swaps come with h22 trannys. search auto to manual swaps there is a ton of info on it, its not that hard, plus if you are going to do a swap then also convert it to manual wile doing the swap cause it is easier that way.

230whp? not at all. expect something like 190whp. but theres more you can do! port and polish and misc. head work. i believe vtec kicks in around 5400rpm, and the h22a will accelerate quicker than the f22 because of the shorter gear ratios. no clue what a transmission will run you...search the classifieds....search google for dealers or what not. its no problem you ask questions, but try to search before you ask
if anything im saying is wrong please (anyone) feel free to kick my ***!

if thats what your looking for and you willing to send the money for a turbo(possibly a h22 swap and turbo) why no sell your car and get a '98 V6. itll be about the same price.
but if you want to brag and say you have h22 w/ turbo and all that great stuff go for it
