Default h22 pistons into an h23.

i recently found out that i could swap in some jdm h22 pistons into my h23 and bump the compression up to around 11.5:1. i'm getting ready to buy the pistons from a friend and i was just wondering some things. do i actually need to get the jdm h22 piston rings? or will any h22 piston ring fit. i'm hoping the h22/23 piston rings are somewhat universal. if anyone can help me out it would be great, i need to make sure i get the right rings. thanks

as long as its the same size as the pistons it should be fine. 87mm pistons should go with the 87mm piston ring sets.

also has anyone ever done this? from compression differences it looks like it would be a dramatic increase in power over just getting some JE pistons. it sounds like a great idea i'm just wondering if anyone else has attempted it. thanks

Before you go any further with H22 pistons in a H23 block i strongly recomend you read through this thread...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=897315

Unfortunately the mod in that forum is unable to distinguish the difference between an informative thread and bandwidth so the thread was locked barring you or anyone else from contributing or asking any other questions regarding.

There is a lot of good info in there, a lot of positive steps in the path of clearing up some of the misinformation posted all over the web

Rick,

I just recently replaced my 94 Accord ex with an 1993 Prelude si and would like to start diving into an n/a h23 build non vtec for the time being, I read your 5 page thread about h22 pistons in h23/vtec swaps, but what would be the exact c/r for us w/o the vtec head. I appreciate the time and effort you and pirate put in to your research there was a similar controversy about CTR pistons in a b18c sometime ago when I had my old GSR. Thanks again, Dax
