Default Transmission woes...new GSR tranny taking a ****

I've got fluid sprayed all over the undercarriage of my teg. Looks like some major leakage. Obviously leaking onto the axle (passenger side) and spraying everywhere.

I think it might be a bad seal where the axle slides into the diff.

One thing I noticed...the axle "shaft" coming out of the CV hub (diff side) has a wobble to it. It doesn't spin completely on center. Would this be possible if the diff was screwed up, or would the tranny simply lock up? The tranny fell off the jack about 3 times from about 2 feet. Hope I didn't screw something up...

Also, the axle is secured in the tranny, but it can move in and out about 1 mm. Is this play normal, or do I have a bad snap ring on the end of it?

Sounds like the cv boot is torn.

It's not spraying grease...it's spraying 10w-40, aka tranny fluid.

I'm 80% sure it's the CV hub seal in the diff. Unfortunately, I had to order one and it won't be here until Thursday. I might pull the seal out of my old tranny. Once I pull the axle out I'll have a better idea of what's wrong.

Something quite the same happened to me. My LS tranny was dumping alot and I mean ALOT of fluid on the underside of the car. The problem. A small crack on the semi-cylinder fluid check place.. LOL im not sure what its called it has the 1/2 inch plug on it. I had the crack from over tightening it (thanks dad) but JB weld fixed it right up.

I just pulled the axle and it looks like it was indeed the seal in the diff. I swapped it out with the one from my old tranny until the replacement arrives. Gonna go for a test run and see if it leaks.

Wish me luck.

PS - When I drained the fluid to pull the axle there was a LOT of glitter...hmmm.

Just got back from the test drive.

Success. No more leaky leaky.

Still a little concerned about the glitter glitter though...
