mounting a 98 front bumper on my 97 teg
I have a 98 bumper that's not painted yet in my garage, but I just want to try putting it on to see how it'd look. I haven't bought the 98+ headlights yet either...so how can I get it on? After I take off my 97 bumper (2 pieces right?) Do i needa take off the headlights too, in order to make the 98 bumper fit on, since the 97 headlights n the 98 bumper isnt compatible?
I believe you will be fine. There will just be more space than normal between your headlights and the circular cut outs from the 98 bumper that encircle the headlights.
good luck

you need the 98 headlights. It wont look right without em. It might mount up, but what good would that do? Were you planning on getting 98-up headlights?
IMO, just wait until you have everything before you put it on. If you wanna know how it looks, there are plenty of other tegs here that have pics of their own conversions.

Yes, I would just wait. If your fenders and everything are straight, everything will bolt up fine. FYI: Your 94-97 bumper will come off as one piece. In the parts manual, it shows it as several pieces, but it will still come off as one piece. I believe they are molded together.
If you really want to do a test fit, it will still work with the 94-97 headlights. In fact, it will be easier to put on because you don't have to "slide" them onto the longer 98+ ones. There will be 0.5 inches or so of gap between the end of the bumper and the headlights.

I do plan on buying the 98+ headlights, I just wanted to know how easily it'd bolt on so I could compare how off-set the paint color is from my 97 fender to the 98 bumper.
Sry I'm taking this a bit further, but are all the bolts and screws holding the 94-97 and 98+ bumper in the same locations? I'll have all the bolts when i take off my 97, but my 98 bumper didn't come with any. So will I need to go out and buy more? Or can I just use all the things I get off by pulling off my 97 bumper?
