My friends car wont start all of a sudden.

The lights and everything turn on. Go to turn the ignation, doesnt even click.

We've ruled out, the starter and battery. (we tested the starter at local shop)

When we plug the battery in, the brake lights stay on for some reason.

Anyone have any clue??

 

Weird. Ignition switch maybe?

 

Main relay?

 

Does the car have an alarm with starter kill?

 

Some alarms get messed up.
Try turning the key to the On positions and then to off 10 times and see what happens.

possibly main relay where is that located.. 89 civic hatch. its the one by the battery under the hood?

 

Check the ground on the starter...they pop loose. It has happened to mine before, as well as others.

 

Same thing happend to me in the past with my Accord....I found that it was a Fuse that blew......Check to see if you blew any fuses.....
