Default Where to buy ports

Building a sub box and need to get 2 of the plastic ports. Where is a place to buy these online?

any audio store will have them, check around for mom & pop shops.. they should have some in stock.

why not go sealed?

was recommended to me to go with ports.

1000w audiobahn sub, custom fiberglass enclosure i'm making in the spare tire well and a 1000w mono audiobahn amp.

pvc pipe - available at any hardware store - it works wonders!

4" PVC is what i use. http://www.partsexpress.com should also cary ports.

I vote Crutchfield as well. They aren't too expensive anyways.

Sealed and ported merely depend on preference/type of music that you listen to.

I disagree with this. A well built ported box can sound just as good as a well built sealed box. The main problem is there are very few people in most areas that can even design a proper ported enclosure. Its a proven fact that ported is louder and its a strong belief by many that the gains you get from going ported far outweigh what you lose in SQ. The SQ you lose is not usually noticeable unless you are an audiophile and are extremely picky.

BTW, I use PVC piping for daily driver SPL boxes and for my car I smooth them a lot on the edges.

you have it backward...

select the enclosure to match the woofer, select the woofer to match the music/goal

some subs can work well in multiple applications, but you can't select the box without thinking about the sub first...it's putting the wagon before the horse...

First you need to estimate how much air space you will have. Then you need some specs on the subs recommended enclosures.
