Default H22 Magic

This question will probably sound stupid to you guys, but here goes. I have a '00 Accord Coupe EX V6 sitting in the garage, and its got a J30A1 under the hood. Its stock because I cant even drive it yet, let alone do anything to it, but ive got big plans for it. Its got 3 liters and puts out 200 horses. Im looking at the H22 specs on accordinglydone.com and from what i hear i think a stock H22 could whoop my J30A1's ***. The H22 has a smaller displacement than mine by almost 1000cc's, and puts out around 190-200 hp. Im wondering why its quicker than mine. Is it a weight issue? Please fill me in on this, cause im just learning. Thanks

Assuming that J30A1 is the engine code for the V6 engine in the 6th gen accords, I will confirm your hypothesis and say that it's highly supported.

higher compression ratio, more square r/s ratio (allows for higher revving), a dohc head with vtec on both the intake and exhaust cams, and a tranny that doesn't come in only automatic...yes, this motor could woop your v6's *** regularly...honda gave no love to the v6's...

if the V6 was available in a manual tranny it would smoke an h22 swaped 6th gen. the torque of the V6 plus you can run 87 octane it in. also a set of comptech headers on the V6 will unleash some decent power. remember the H22 was designed for performance orientated people while the V6 was designed to haul the family.

That is til now, the 7th gens kick ***!!! But they look like *** also. Your J30ai in the 6th gen isnt up to its full potential. If you compare the 7th gen and 6th gen you can clearly see the differences in hp. They are stll the same engine but one is more tuned than the other. Since the 6th gen j30a was the first of its kind, its lackin in areas but there are some who are trying to evolve the 6th gen j30a into a beast.

I currently own one and am very disappointed by it. Its rather weak and dont respond to well to mods. Visit http://www.v6performance.net , they have a lot of info there on our engine. Although my v6 does feel a lot faster than my 4banger its ashamed to find out that they run basically the same time, auto v6 vs. 5spd 4banger that is.

Yeah the fact that its automatic is what bugs me the most about it. Lately ive been planning ahead to when i need a car. I was thinking and my parents said they could put in a few grand into a new car for me, and i was thinking buying one locally off of ebay or something, so that i could check the car out first and not have to pay delivery for it. Ive been seeing a lot of small japanese cars with potential, and i wont settle for anything but manual. If not then im gonna definitely convert to a manual first thing.

Thats what ive been leaning towards. I think that a manny 6th gen accord is pretty rare, and it would definitely make driving more fun and improve the performance and stuff. I know its not much of a tuner mag, but im reading up on Car Craft so when the time comes i know what im doing with the transmission. Then ill spend the money saved from getting the conversion done for me on some more parts for the accord

I like the 7th gens alot. I ran a 7th gen coupe v6,with a 6 speed. I still wooped his *** with a h22. So even if you got a 5 speed in your v6 somehow i will bet the h22 will walk all over it still.

Thats BS. 7th gens with 6speed run mid-high 14s, i doubt that a stock lude can run those times. If your lude is modded then thats a diff story.

As for the auto---->manny conversion. THeres only two that i know of and they are one v6p.net, i believe its not that easy of a swap as doing other conversions but it has been done. If you read on v6p.net they talk about the probs they've encountered. The one guy, jimmyrecluse, has a auto--->manny conversion with Comptech S/C. Its one tight *** car i tell you though.
