Default Keep the cable, or go Hydro?

I need to pull my tranny from my Civic and need another to replace it with. It's a Y1 LSD. I need to get it rebuilt, then it'll go into my CRX. What should I do about a new tranny? What Hydro tranny would be best? I still want my LSD. Is the Hydro tranny even worth it? The conversion is like $400 by itself.

Anybody with this set-up?

Feel free to add other options. Don't flame up my post if you don't have anything constructiveto add.

Thanks.

P.S. It's a B16a SiR.

I have a cable in my crx, and my boy has a hydro in his celica. I would like to know what are the advantages to the hydro, and the down falls. I'm about to swap out motors soon and just need some feed back

Not too much work. I say go Hydro if you got the extra $$. Cable trannies are gonna become extinct soon, they're gonna be selling at the same price as Hydros watch.

how bout a ITR tranny, that would be worth it! (LSD) then you can sell the Cable and almost pay the conversion kit off completely.

I just talked to a guy from Hasport. He said the kit is $299 since I have the Hasport B series mount kit. Then I would have to find an ITR tranny.

How much are those running, and what's the code S80, Y80? I have LSD, I'm not down-grading.

You still need a new tranny mount. Hydro trannies require a different mount than cable trannies. (B-series)

I got my ITR for $1k.

Mine's needing help. I talked to James at Gearspeed. Damn it's going to be expensive no matter which way I go.
If It's going to cost me near $1500 for a hydro one, I'm sticking w/ cable. I like the way they feel better. I can get my Y1 re-built completely w/ carbon coated synchros for right around that much. Plus it'll be mirror polished and warranteed.THen it'll be just like new. Looking for a YS1 if anybody can find on from a 93 GSR, let me know.

I'll take it burned up. I'll have James rebuild it. I think for now, I might by a built J1 from them and put in a quaife when I get some more money.

Either it's an LS YS1, or the person you got it from didn't know what they had. If you can find me one for a good price, hook it up. I'd hook up a finder's fee.

You have to be real careful when buying a YS1. There's really no way to check that's it's a YS1 from a GSR unless you open it, or test it out in a car. I bought a YS1 for 200, and the guy said it was from a GSR. Well I found out after installing it that it was an LS. I got rid of my S1 for this tranny, and now I wish I had my S1 back.

That's why you get a signed, written receipt that this transmission is a YS1 from a 1993 Acura GSR. Then you have legal recourse if you pop the case and the ratios are LS.

Cable YS1 all the way. If it starts grinding, stuff the hydro internals in it.

The hydro setup is still cable actuated anyways.
