STS legal Catalylic converters?
Im thinking of replacing the stock cat on my 90 si which probably is original equiptment. I think you cannot run high-flow cats in STS..... so what aftermarket brands can I run?
I was looking at Catco(high flow?????) or maybe i'll just go to the local autostore and get one of those stock replacements.

Either go to the dealer and get a new OEM cat, or get a stock replacement at the autoparts store. Anything labeled as a "high-flow" cat is illegal. STS inherets the stock cat rules.

are catco's labeled high flow?

"Since you have to use a catalytic converter anyway, you might as well use one that's going to last a long time and maintain your vehicle's performance level in the process. This converter not only outflows the stock converter, it features aluminized dual steel heat shields, 409 stainless steel shells, 16-gauge stainless steel pipes and nipples, and a heat resistant sealed mat, all of which help the converter last longer. It is designed to be used as a universal application, so anybody can add a converter to a vehicle that was not equipped with one, and has slip fit ends for an easy installation."

It's a gray area IMO, but this tells me that it is not legal:
"This converter not only outflows the stock converter...It is designed to be used as a universal application."
Both no-no's I'm thinking.

The only thing that I see regarding the catalyctic converter (from Moutons, I don't have the current rule book) are these two sections:
17.10.
"Any and all modifications must meet or exceed the applicable US DOT emissions standards for the year, make, and model of the car."
"All STS vehicles must comply with the Federal 49-state safety and tailpipe emissions test requirements as a minimum. "
While the STX section (17.11.6) directly states:
"High flow catalytic converters are allowed, but must attach within six inches of the original unit. Multiple catalytic converters may be replaced by a single unit, provided the single unit is within six inches of the original primary unit. The resultant configuration must meet Federal emissions standards at normal vehicle operating temperature."
But that's STX not STS.
