Default Yet another B16/EF swap problem...

OK, dropped a b16a into my 89 DX hatch...

I used my stock DX DPFI harness, and wired everything up according to the Hasport/SCC article. Tested all the wires at the plugs and at the ECU with a multimeter. Everything’s wired up like SCC shows.

Instead of using a resistor box, I wired all of the constant + injector wires to the main injector power wire (yel/blk on driver's strut tower).

The car turns over, but will not start. Fuel pump is brand new, and it is getting fuel. When I turn the key over, the main relay buzzes for about 3 seconds.

Any ideas?

Yeah you need to wire the Injectors the Corect way. Did you even run the wireing to the ECU? Dont Forget you only had 2 injectors before

i wired the injectors to the ecu...

i followed hasport/Sport Compact Car's directions exactly, only instead of wiring a resistor box, i ran the constant 12v wires straight to the injectors...

injectors 2 and 4, along with the blu/grn and blu/yel wires for the CKP are hooked up to the ecu. I tested the injectors, along with the CKP wires and vtec solenoid, vtec oil psi, knock sensor, and secondary o2 sensor, at the plugs and at the ecu with a multimeter, so i'm 100% positive everything is connected correctly at the ecu...

if he's using a B16A1 SIR motor you need to use the Resister box.

becuase OBD0 injectors arn't 12 volts
if you changed the injectors to obd1 style then its ok.

<U>http://muller.net/sonny/resistorbox/ </U>

as figured probably fried his injectors becuase if they are low impedeance injectors there TOAST!!

just run out to local junk yard and grab some obd1 injectors

the injectors that are in there are obd1 b16 injectors...

I have the obd0 peak-and-hold injectors, and the resistor box, but I was trying to get around wiring in a resistor box.

im about to go wire up the resistor box...maybe that'll fix it?

also, someone on hondaswap said that it wont start if my coolant temperature sensor plugs are switched...how can you tell if they are?

Should Start if there backwards the ECU will throw a code

But I would swap in the injectors and the Resister box and try that

put in the resistor box...the engine sounds more gutsy now, but it still won't start...

ecu throws code 4 (ckp) and only code 4....switched the ckp wires, still throws code 4...

put #1 at TDC and checked the position of the rotor, just in case it was switched 180...it's fine...

also, the main relay buzzes at me when i turn the car to 'on'...something tells me that that's bad.

I've seen this about 4 times.

main relay "buzzes"... its very possibly a ground. make sure all your engine grounds are properly connected.

My main relay buzzes and she starts just fine. Is there spark? Push a screwdriver down into the spark plug wire and hold it next to a valve cover nut, have a buddy crank it over to see if it sparks.

fixed it....three problems

1. main relay ground - dunno why it wasnt grounded, I ran a wire straight to the chassis

2. bad plug wires

3. CKP wires - when I added these to the ecu, I used obd2 pins. apparently obd2 pins won't connect right in an obd0 ecu. replaced with obd0 pins, started right up.

it's hella fast...thanks for all your help y0
