Default How a remote start leads to a sticking throttle

Well, I came home for Thanksgiving and my dad had moved my car in the driveway leaving it in first gear. I came out to the car and showed my mother my new remote start. Needless to say, the car proceeded to slowly run into my grandmothers Caddy. No damage seemed to be done but aparently it snapped the by-pass valve on my AEM CAI.

On the way to get my new Toyo Proxys today I shifted into second and went to WOT. I let off because i was just pulling out into traffic, but the throttle stuck and just kept on revving up to what looked like 9k RPM. I shut off the ignition and pulled to the side of the road. Took a look at it and nothing was blocking the cable. My father and I then drove it 1 block to the tire place. A great guy named Joey took a look and found that the foam from the bypass valve got sucked into the intake manifold. I'm not exactly sure what it was blocking but I sure as hell lucked out that it didn't go into the engine Thank god my car is all good. I go to pick it up in an hour. Just letting everyone know what happen.

Have a safe trip home from Turkey Day weekend. Later.

cliffs - bumped rear of grandmas car, snapped bypass valve on intake, foam went into manifold and stuck throttle open, everything is fixed

That Bypass valve coming apart has happened to others and is a manufacturer defect..and was recalled for such instances... Contact AEM for what to do about it.

you can get the new clip that holds the foam in better...I got the recall part from them very quickly...

Thank you guys. I will contact AEM this week.

One more question. My check engine light is still on. The car seems to be running fine. Should I pull the fuse for the ECU for 30 seconds then put it back to reset it before taking it into a shop? Thanks.
