last tunning session at secret services i was making between 229-234 on the last few passes peaked at 234. all through a 2.5 inch andrel bent exhaust 32 inch resonator and a muffler. also these #'s were accomplished on pump amoco fuel..

my questiuon is....i see all you guys open header and race fuel making great #'s......have you guys/ girls ever compared open header to exhaust and pump gas to race fuel..... i know the flow is greatly improved and that timing can be more aggressive on maybe 103 octane...................but #'s wise what is a realistic improvement?

john aka vapor-trail dsays he could have hit 240 is i would have remembered to take the race fuel...... any comments?

I picked up about 4-7 whp open header.

great to know cause 234+7= 240 + that just made my day....... do u have to tune it differently when u pull off the exhaust?

I picked up about the same as T-Bone, 3-6 HP above the VTEC point. This was on pump gas (91) both times though with 12:1 CR. Also had to tweak timing and fuel.

 

we made 192 whp base line with some 103 mixed with some 91 still in the gas tank on the street car, after 13 passes on the dyno with some tunning and getting the 91 pump gas out it made 215 whp through the cat with a muffler. So race gas does make more HP with good tunning

 

Yep you have to add timming with the higher oct because it burns slower.
